Job Description 

Overview 

The position of Director, Individual Giving is an exciting opportunity for a creative, results-driven fundraising professional who will be responsible for planning and implementing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all mid-level individual donors to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. This position will be responsible for strategically stewarding and growing the base of supporters to the organization alongside the Senior Director of Individual Giving and the Annual Giving Manager. Together, the Individual Giving Team is charged with growing annual support from individuals at all giving levels to enable our RISE2025 Strategic Plan goal to serve more kids, more often, with greater impact. 

Key qualities of an outstanding candidate are strong relationship-building and communication skills, a self-starter, superb organizational and project management abilities, and creative thinking skills. Equally important is the ability to work productively and proactively, both independently and as part of a team. Prior experience in Individual Giving and direct mail a plus. 

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities 

  • Develop strategy for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all donors giving under $5,000 annually; Execute strategy with the help of Annual Giving Manager 
  • Manage a portfolio of 150+ mid-level donors giving $1,000-$5,000 annually 
  • Oversee Donor Society strategy to engage and recognize donors $1,000+ and grow the donor pipeline 
  • Work with Direct Mail vendor to design a comprehensive direct mail program and digital giving strategies; Analyze Direct Mail/e-mail solicitation program results data to refine and increase ROI 
  • Work with Senior Director of Individual Giving to establish revenue goals for fiscal year 
  • Establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of all individual giving activities 
  • Manage Champions Club for GIRLS Women’s Giving Society, which includes volunteer and fundraising opportunities for members 
  • Work closely with marketing staff to develop and manage consistent communications to donors and prospects that aligns with individual giving strategies 
  • Design acquisition strategies for Individual Giving Team 
  • Lead planning of donor cultivation events 
  • Lead Club Tours with potential Individual donors 
  • Support Individual Giving Team’s Planned Giving initiatives and communications/marketing strategy 
  • Provide direction and support to the entire Resource Development team to ensure quality donor stewardship 
  • Other related duties as assigned by Senior Director, Individual Giving 

Environment & Working Conditions 

Normal internal office environment. Able to travel throughout the Metro Atlanta area to attend donor meetings and events; some evenings and weekends required. Occasional need to travel to club locations within the Metro Atlanta area. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout organization required. Opportunity to work remote 2-3 days per week. 

All new employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by their start date. 

Requirements

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required 

Experience 

  • 2-4 years of fundraising experience including managing a portfolio of donors and a proven track record for securing gifts 
  • Must have experience writing and managing direct mail campaigns 
  • Planned Giving experience preferred 

Knowledge 

  • Strong grasp of donor engagement cycle 
  • Well versed in direct mail and digital fundraising best practices and implementation 
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or comparable donor database preferred 

Skills 

  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful individual giving strategies 
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills 
  • Must be strategic and forward thinking 
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously is a must 
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or comparable donor database 
  • Goal-oriented with ability to work independently and meet deadlines 
  • Ability to gather, analyze and communicate data results 
  • Ability to work easily with board members, lead volunteers and connect with all club constituencies 
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Positive attitude and undeniable passion for playing a role in fulfilling the organization’s mission.
