Great opportunity for someone with strong senior management experience who is also concerned about the fundamental rights of victims of crime in our community.

This is a strategic and operational leadership role reporting to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director has responsibility for strategic planning, finance, grant management and fundraising, public relations, agency evaluations, and board and stakeholder relations.

The Executive Director leads a team of 25 full- and 5 part-time contract employees and manages an operating budget of $1.8 million.

Key Responsibilities:

In partnership with a mission-focused Board of Directors and staff, the ED will:

  1.  Design, implement, and evaluate programs and policies to meet strategic goals; ensure ongoing program excellence through continuous improvement.

  2.  Grow and diversify funding sources from government, foundation and corporate partnerships, and individual donors.

  3.  Ensure consistent quality of finance and administrative practices to achieve strategic goals.

  4.  Design and direct the annual program planning and budget processes.

  5.  Advocate for local, state, and national public policy enhancements.

  6.  Collaborate with City officials and community partners to increase the scope and effectiveness of AVA’s programs.

  7.  Develop organizational talent and foster a culture of teamwork, compassion, and accountability.

Ideal Candidate

The new Executive Director will be a servant leader with strategic thinking skills, business acumen, and a record of relevant results. We are looking for someone to take an innovative approach to program delivery and be able to lead organizational transformation.

We are most interested in candidates with a strong program development background and senior leadership experience. A background in victim advocacy or services is desired; fundraising experience is a plus.

Must have at least 10 years of related experience; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and be a U.S. Citizen or a legal resident.

Atlanta Victim Assistance, Inc. (AVA) is a nonprofit organization established in 1984 to advocate for, and provide services to, victims of crimes. Since its inception, AVA has made significant contributions to the economic, social, and cultural health & well-being of the citizens of metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. Our support services include, but are not limited to: violence prevention initiatives; promoting justice for victims of crime and abuse and their families; and, court advocacy. AVA absorbs the trauma of our city by providing comprehensive services that help victims of violent crimes, such as human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, and robbery, as well as family survivors of victims of homicide and secondary survivors of human-trafficking overcome crises, helping them to move from Victims to Victors.
