THE OPPORTUNITY

The Mission Continues is seeking an experienced Digital Content Manager to join our Communications team. If you love creating high-quality and engaging website content to drive organizational success with it, we want you on our team! As the Digital Content Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall website and digital content strategy based on our specific goals and objectives--and creating a positive user experience for all visitors.

 

The Digital Content Manager plays an essential role in maintaining high quality standards of web content and exceptional UX on our website. The successful candidate will have a strong grasp of the WordPress platform, familiarity with accessibility standards for the web, and prior SEO experience. The position will be responsible for ensuring content is optimized, participating in drafting strategies and plans, and sharing best practices. This individual will be a self-starter, with an acute attention to detail; maintaining an organized site structure and perpetually focused on areas of improvement.

 

As part of the team, you'll marry proven and innovative digital strategies with the objectives and resources of our team to push our organization forward. We’re always looking for new ways to get the word out about our work, running tests to see which content resonates the most with our audience, and we’re always looking for the next challenge. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for working with veterans and communities, as well as an interest in communications, website design, and external relations (e.g. marketing,social media, fundraising). The location for this role is flexible, but we're placing preference on the following cities: Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, St. Louis, or Washington D.C. We're also open to other cities where we have a full-time team member.

 

 WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Website Content Management

- Owns overall website and digital content plans and project schedules and deliverables to maintain robust, on-brand and dynamic web presence.

- Drafts, edits and proofreads copy for posting to the website and across social channels.  

- Lead the discovery and evaluation of solutions to improve website user experience, customer journeys, conversions, and revenue generation.  - Makes changes to the website, pages, or presence based on feedback from internal and external users. 

- Conceptualizes, designs, develops and maintains website and digital projects integrating front end design (WordPress, HTML, CSS) with back end support from our developers and technology team.

- Establish processes for and conduct content audits to improve content quality, ensure accuracy, and eliminate redundant information. 

 

Google Ads / SEO

- Leverage web analytics, visitor analytics, and customer data analytics to monitor weekly site performance, improve the site’s organic search results through tactics such as white-hat link acquisition, retarget visitors, and help the site achieve its business goals.

- Translate organization priorities into high-performing CPC campaigns through Google Ads with high CTR and conversion rates.

- Always adhering to Google Grant policies, and ensuring there is a consistent use of Google Ads.

- Become the organizational subject matter expert on: SEO, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

- 3+ years of experience leading website content management and development, creating online spaces that inspire action.

- Strong narrative writing and proofreading skills. And by "strong" we mean "able to inspire while also being concise and on-brand.

- Someone with excellent communication skills - both in print and in person - and good attention to detail.

- An understanding of Google Ads and SEO best-practices, and desire to advance your mastery of this work.

- A collaborator who can work across teams in a fluid environment to lead a project to completion.

- Comfort translating our mission, vision and programs for digital channels.

- Experience with navigating through data to uncover key patterns and actionable takeaways; comfort with formulas and manipulating data.

- Ability to work volunteer service events which can include: standing for long periods of time, walking extended distances, and in a variety of weather conditions.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

- Military service a plus 

- Team management skills (may have direct reports and/or interns)

- Basic CSS / HTML; WordPress

- Familiarity with Facebook Business Manager

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: (Outside of global pandemic) 

Must be flexible and able to work some evenings and weekends including up to 25% travel to various locations around the country. Multi-day and/or weekend travel will be required on program event dates for in-person events, and online for virtual events. There may be long days with virtual programming continuing into the evening hours. Some longer sessions may be held over the weekend. Flex time is available.
