ORGANIZING DIRECTOR

DESCRIPTION:
New Virginia Majority is looking to hire a full-time Director of Organizing. They will lead a 12+ member organizing team to build power by identifying and developing member / leaders through state and local issue campaigns. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead New Virginia Majority's statewide organizing, including supervising community organizers, and guiding campaigns, and mobilizations to build leaders, power and win victories led by and benefiting working class communities of color in Virginia Support actions, trainings and mobilization opportunities in order to develop leaders and staff. Develop the political consciousness through popular education, training, and critical evaluation of activities.  Assist with the development of appropriate educational materials. Provide support to lead organizers, organizers and member/leaders. Participate in campaign development- strategy and implementation. Participate in building campaign coalitions and key relationships with campaign-related allies. Perform other duties as required. Reports to Co-Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Committed to New Virginia Majority’s mission of social, racial and economic justice. 4 or more years of paid relevant experience Ability to develop and maintain a variety of relationships on multiple levels. Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines; able to develop and move projects forward with independence and autonomy. Self-motivated and works well both independently and on a team. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects. Ability to take direction and constructive feedback. Driver’s license and access to a car. A minimum one-year commitment to the position. Experience organizing immigrant communities is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English languages is preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salaries are competitive. Salary is $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience with excellent benefits.
