California Volunteers is tasked with engaging Californians in service, volunteering, and civic action to tackle our State’s most pressing challenges while mobilizing all Californians to volunteer and serve in their communities. The Deputy Director of Operations is a key member of the Operations team and serves as the lead for human resources and business services at California Volunteers. The Deputy Director supervises staff associated with human resources, business operations, state operations, procurement, and accounting. This includes overseeing department administration policies and procedures, supporting organizational evaluation and planning, overseeing business services and office management, and performing a range of human resources functions and providing consultative services to management, supervisors, and staff regarding a wide variety of personnel, human resources, and training. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience working in state human resources. Also, the candidate has experience with business services, specifically administrative functions within state government, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) best practices, strategies, and opportunities. The ideal candidate will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
