Development Director 

Position: Development Director 

Status: Exempt. Full-time. 

Salary: Based on Experience

MISSION

Rainbow Village transforms the lives of families experiencing homelessness by providing help, hope, housing, and healing to instill initiative, self-development and accountability that will foster meaningful growth in the lives of all who encounter Rainbow Village. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Rainbow Village is seeking a strong and proven Development professional to serve as Director of Development, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The Director will manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and create new individual, corporate, and foundation partnerships. This position works closely with the Community Engagement Director, Community Engagement Coordinator, CEO, and Board of Directors in implementing donor cultivation and stewardship strategy. Must have a proven track record of successful non-profit fundraising and donor cultivation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

  • Responsible for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to raise $2.0M in operating income through the solicitation of major gifts, special events with primary focus on the annual Gala, the annual Golf tournament, individual donor contributions, corporate, and foundation support. 
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Community Engagement Director to implement programs to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for Rainbow Village 
  • Oversee development calendar for current and prospective foundation funders, and ensuring timely development, approval, and submission of proposals and reports 
  • Lead the grant-writing process by managing grant writer and grant timelines, identifying new grant opportunities, and delivering applications and reports on time 
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintains accountability standards to investors and ensures compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct for fundraising executives. 
  • Create and implement a Planned Giving strategy with focus on Legacy Gifts 
  • Maintain and build key relationships in the Gwinnett community to further the mission of Rainbow Village 

Build a robust donor base

  • Develop and maintain key long-term relationships with investors and prospects. Knowledge and experience with Saleforce preferred. 

Communication and training

  • Collaborate with Rainbow Village staff and consultants to develop impactful, motivating, and coordinated messaging and communications strategies for events, phone, print, online, and social media channels of communication 
  • Communicate effectively with donors through both verbal and written communication, as well as face-to-face solicitation and stewardship meetings 
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role 
  • Lead monthly Development Committee meetings and strategize ways to actively involve Committee members 
  • Provide fundraising training to staff, board and volunteers as required 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Development/Fundraising: 

  • Proven development success in the non-profit sector. Experience running capital campaigns and success fundraising from multiple donor channels 

Project Leadership

  • Experience planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers/board of directors 

Entrepreneurial Spirit

  • Takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen current donor relationships and to forge new ones 

Communications

  • Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral fundraising communications. 
  • Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences 

Influencing

  • Gets others to accept ideas by using convincing arguments, creates a win-win situation and responds appropriately to key stakeholders 

Collaboration

  • Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives 

Relationship Building

  • Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and externally 

Annual Salary Range:

$65k - $100K based on experience, plus benefits
