At Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Our chapter serves children and their families from Monterey to the Oregon border, and we fulfill between 200 and 400 unique wishes each year.  A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This one belief guides us in everything we do and compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it's the founding principle of our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child.

We are seeking a Marketing Associate who is passionate about our mission and about telling our story in creative and compelling ways. Your experience in multimedia storytelling, branding, graphics, or marketing efforts will suit you well in this position as our team works to elevate and steward the Make-A-Wish brand and inspire people to take action in support of our mission.  The Marketing Associate role is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position within the Marketing & Communications team and reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.
RESPONSIBLITIES

Multimedia production coordination

  • Support production of multimedia content for the chapter, including video wish stories, roundtables/Q&As, spotlights, appreciations, and event and corporate promotions.
  • Support the production and publicity of new marketing event series (4x a year).
  • Promote and support charity streams and other virtual fundraisers.
  • Help grow and maintain our pool of skills volunteers and freelancers, including videographers, photographers, video editors, and AV technicians. Onboard, steward, and secure coverage for wishes, events, and other storytelling opportunities.
  • Work with vendors and volunteers, provide on-site and remote technical support for livestream event series and other virtual and hybrid events.
  • Serve as AV expert for team, staying on top of technology and tools for virtual events and streaming options and logistics
  • Maintain, organize, and grow MAW digital assets, testimonials, and other evergreen content.
  • Help manage collateral production, including getting bids from vendors, tracking in-kind and paid expenses and timelines, and processing invoices.

Digital marketing and storytelling support

  • Oversee multimedia content for social media and manage the more visual Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area social media platforms, such as YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram Stories.
  • Ensure that staff, volunteers, partners, advertisers, and others have what they need to share our brand and stories and inspire others to take action.
  • Support the Marketing Director in PR/media efforts, including providing collateral, scheduling interviews, and tracking pitches and stories
  • Support the Marketing Manager in website updates and email production.
  • Support marketing and corporate campaign production and execution.
  • Review content produced by other staff members to ensure it is error-free and brand aligned.

Print and digital collateral production

  • Produce brand aligned creative collateral, including brochures, one-pagers, advertisements, mailings, donor stewardship pieces, event publicity, and social media graphics with support from the marketing team, interns, and freelancers,
  • Provide graphic design support as needed (website graphics, email headers, social media graphics, editing and updating existing materials, etc.)
  • Oversee graphic design intern during the summer.
  • Track and process expenses related to design, print, and mailing.

Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • BA or equivalent
  • 2-3+ years in communications, marketing, design, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management skills
  • Customer service oriented and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment
  • Graphic design and collateral production skills, a good eye for visual branding, and experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in video creation, production, editing and/or livestreaming preferred
  • Experience in digital marketing, website management, and/or social media management preferred
  • Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, volunteers, and interns

Now one of the largest chapters nationwide, we have granted over 9,000 wishes to date and grant over 300 wishes per year.
