Job Responsibilities. The Community Partnerships Specialist is responsible for supporting HMHBGA’s partnership engagement strategy in an assigned perinatal region of Georgia. This work focuses on building relationships with community organizations, legislators, birth givers, and their families to promote HMHBGA services and projects, while also acting as a connector of maternal and child health initiatives. The specialist will participate in collaborative and community resource networks, attend community events, facilitate, and manage local partnerships, act as a liaison for HMHBGA, and conduct environmental scans of counties in the assigned Perinatal Region. The perinatal region assignment will be based on the physical residence of the specialist. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Serving as a master connector; connecting families to partner resources, community organizations to resources to build their capacity, systems leaders to relevant research and community perspectives, and making other meaningful connections as needed.

· Conducting environmental scans & implementing grassroots engagement strategies to assist HMHBGA in developing authentic and responsive strategies to increase maternal and infant health outcomes that are reflective of the diversity in our 159 counties across the State

· Assisting the Sr. Coordinator – Community Partnerships in the creation and management of collaborative partnerships with multiple stakeholder groups including families, elected officials, community leaders, health professionals, business leaders, etc. to identify solutions to increase maternal and infant health outcomes in their community

· Assisting in the implementation of innovation and capacity-building projects in an assigned Perinatal Region as part of our Partner Innovation Fund & coalition-building activities.

· Engaging in local events, collaborative meetings, and resource networks to increase awareness of and participation in HMHBGA’s services, projects, and activities; Acting as a liaison by presenting the organization’s mission.

· Expanding HMHBGA’s resource and partnership network while also maintaining an accurate account of provider, community, and other relevant resources through database management.

· Participating in HMHBGA working groups and Coalitions

· Participating in strategic planning, work presentations, recruitment events, and other Coalition building activities as needed

· Working collaboratively with the Communications/Development team to inform print, video, digital education, training materials, social media content, and strategies.

· Identifying key grass-roots allies in local communities (including neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations, civic organizations, etc.) and explore opportunities for deepening our partnerships

· Engaging in ongoing professional development activities and training to increase knowledge of maternal & infant health

· Performing other duties as assigned and necessary for successful community engagement and service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications.

· Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent is required in Social Work, Public Health, Public Policy, Business, or Associate’s Degree with at least 3 years of related experience. Master’s degree preferred.

· Experience working in a community organizing, nonprofit, social work, public health, or healthcare setting

· Excellent written and verbal communications

· Highly organized with excellent interpersonal skills

· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.

· Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.

· Must own a reliable vehicle and hold appropriate auto insurance coverage

· Must be willing to travel throughout Georgia (15% - 35% of Georgia)

· Must be willing to spend 30%-45% of the time in the field, attending events, making connections, hosting presentations, etc. in-person and virtually as health provides

· Detail-oriented, and organized with a commitment to follow-up and follow-through

· Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, video conferencing technology, as well as database experience

· Demonstrates cultural competency by effectively working and communicating with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities, and abilities
