Job Details
VISTA will develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization and sustain a National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant volunteer program for BRACE that will enhance the ability of the organization to expand volunteer engagement in Emergency Management in counties in Florida covered by the program.
Assess volunteer engagement in all BRACE programs. Identify strengths and developmental needs of current program.
Plan for outreach, recruitment, and engagement in Escambia County and throughout Florida counties covered by the program to maximize volunteerism throughout the communities in which BRACE serves. Coordinate efforts to develop, promote and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities that support emergency management functions. Host and attend recruitment and other community outreach events to attract qualified candidates. Ensure all volunteer data is captured and inputted in current organizations volunteer database to ensure grant reporting information can be accurately reported. Collaborate with the Citizen Corps Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, Training Coordinator, as well as professional associations to promote opportunities for volunteers and highlight volunteer engagement.
Work with the BRACE VISTA team to establish systems for screening and matching volunteers to community needs. Develop an interview process and a system for assessing candidates. Research and incorporate screening procedures required for working with youth. Interview and screen prospective leader volunteers to help lead and sustain the volunteer program. Enhance criteria for matching volunteers with programs and supervisor. Assist with the identification or development of evaluation tools for assessing the success of the volunteer program. Utilize evaluation tools for volunteers, program participants, staff to improve volunteer program.
Ensure that a NIMS compliant volunteer deployment system is established and functioning that includes a file for every volunteer supporting disaster response and recovery. Secure contact and emergency contact information for all volunteers.
