Job Summary

  • The Director of Clinical Services has primary responsibility for the coordination and oversight of all clinical care and quality of services provided by CAPN, Inc.
  • Oversees all clinical policies and procedures
  • Management and supervision of all clinical staff and volunteers
  • Provides primary care to patients
  • An additional ten hours per week is to be made available for participation in various administrative/clinical meetings and/or clinical planning.
  • Reports to and works under the direction of the Executive Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to the following);

Strategic Management

  • Works with the Executive Director to develop and communicate CAPN’s vision/plans for improving the health of people experiencing homelessness and those who are underserved.
  • Assures consistency of organizational mission with demonstrated needs/expectations of the medically underserved community by identifying the health care needs of the community and communicating those needs to the staff, such that program initiatives are created that are designed to meet the needs of the community.
  • Collaborates in ensuring the viability of the organization through the oversight of provider productivity, participation as a member of the administrative team and participation in the processes of grant writing and funding opportunities.
  • Works closely with the Executive Director to ensure that all clinical services at CAPN are provided at the standard of care expected within the various disciplines of clinical practice provided at CAPN.
  • Communicates in a timely and effective manner with the Executive Director, and (as requested by the Executive Director) to the Board of Directors, , to ensure that each receives adequate information, reports, and materials to help them fulfill their respective duties.
  • Prepares an annual Clinical Performance Plan and provides leadership to ensure that CAPN accomplishes its objectives as identified in the plan.

Staff Management

Under the direction of the Executive Director:

  • Assists and actively participates in the development of clinical staff structure and recruitment processes.
  • Assists and actively participates in the hiring of Provider staff. 
  • The Director of Clinical Services will ensure that each Provider is working to meet CAPN’s mission and will ensure that all Provider staff are appropriately credentialed.
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality medical care by clinical staff through direct supervision and audits; serves as a mentor and manages the resolution of practices related problems of providers and staff.
  • Provides professional oversight and supervision for advanced practice nurses, midwives and/or physician assistants through collaborative practice agreements.
  • Serves as a resource for consultation and referral for all clinical staff.
  • Provides formal orientation to new providers and conducts annual performance evaluations for all physicians, mid-level providers, dietician, behavioral health professionals and the Clinical Coordinator.

Operations Management

  • Working closely with the Executive Director, will actively assist in the development of policies and procedures designed to guide CAPN's clinical activities, ensuring that clinical services operate in a consistent and high-quality manner.
  • Collaborates in the development, and periodic review of written clinical policies, guidelines, and protocols for the functioning of the clinic and responsibilities of the clinicians.
  • Ensures compliance with standards, laws, and regulations as promulgated by regulatory and accrediting organizations.
  • Assures utilization of patients’ bill of rights, patient right to self-determination, privacy and confidentiality are consistently applied in CAPN clinics.

Delivery of Clinical Services

  • Provides direct patient care to clinic patients as an active member of the Clinical Services Team
  • Interviews patients to obtain history, performing physical examination, performing lab and other tests, prescribing medications and treatments.
  • Prescribes an appropriate treatment plan for each client in accordance with choices made by the client, unless medically contraindicated.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing is required
  • Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse required.
  • Current Georgia Medical License
  • Five + years clinical practice in an outpatient primary care environment.
  • Two + years of clinical managerial experience in an in- or out-patient environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Comprehensive understanding of the clinical and administrative issues involved in providing leadership of the operations of a healthcare organization.
  • Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of CAPN, Inc.
  • Ability to organize, direct, prioritizes, and delegate work appropriately.
  • Excellent analytical skills necessary for developing clinical reports and performing administrative tasks.
  • Ability to interact effectively and collaborate professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups. Manage and coordinate activities and projects.
