Job Title: Childcare Business/Finance Coach 

Supervisor: Director, Business Support Services, Quality Care for Children 

Position Description: 

Quality Care for Children operates a variety of programs to support the sustainability of quality child care programs. These include resources provided through the online Provider Resource Hub, training in business related topics, the provision of on-site/remote business automation, technical assistance, and business coaching. The primary responsibility of the ECE Business Coach is to provide hands-on training and assistance to help child care programs implement automated child care management systems and improve financial business practices to ensure a sustainable child care program. The business coach will work with the child care sustainability team in implementing these programs and will work directly with child care center directors and family child care providers in utilizing technology platforms to market their programs and manage their business operations. As a member of a small business support services team, the ECE Business Coach should be prepared to step in as needed to fulfill any of the ECE business support services goals, including piloting new strategies to support the business success of child care centers and family child care providers.  

Specific Responsibilities Related to Program Components: 

Provider Resource Hub  

  • Work with ECE programs to understand and utilize the resources provided through the Provider Resource Hub  
  • Implement strategies to increase PRH membership and usage and expand local vendors 

Provider Business Exchange 

  • Conduct Facebook Live meetings and post videos to promote business support services 

Child Care Business Training  

  • Establish and support provider ECE business cohorts   
  • Provide business-related training such as human resources, finance, marketing, and child care management software   
  • Develop new business related trainings and webinars and acquire state approval  
  • Develop/coordinate meetings for provider cohorts. 

Business Coaching   

  • Recruit child care centers to receive automation grants and business TA 
  • Provide hands-on support to child care programs in implementing child care management software and using data to make sound business decisions based on enrollment, collecting bad debt, and monitoring revenue-goals  
  • Provide direct support and business financial training to business leaders to support childcare profitability and sustainability  
  • Organize, market, and manage registration for cohorts, training and professional development events  
  • Track the impact of business coaching and automation 
  • Work with a group of child care programs utilizing child care manager software to provide best business practices 
  • Track the financial and business metrics for child care programs 
  • Provide monthly reports as requested 

Other  

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners 
  • Contribute to the long term vision and planning of QCC’s business support services 

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business operations preferably child care programs, both child care centers and family child care homes. They will have a demonstrated commitment to sound financial business practices and the provision of quality child care services. They will have the knowledge and personal characteristics required to establish trust with and provide training and coaching to child care Directors and business owners who may have a strong background in child development, but little training in business acumen.   

Requirements: 

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Business Management, or related field. Bachelor’s degree or higher required.    
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in business management /operations (childcare management a plus) 
  • Ability to put together correspondence and reports with excellent editing and proofreading. 
  • Attention to details

  • Time Management skills 
  • Excellent Communicator. 
  • Data entry and analytical skills 
  • Technical knowledge of accounting, regulations, and basic policies and procedures. 
  • Strong computer skills including accuracy data bases, excel, and other software 
  • Clerical duties. 
  • Performs data entry 
  • Marketing knowledge 
  • Familiar with software programs such as QuickBooks, Procare, Kidkare 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) 
  • Proficiency with computers and office equipment. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suites. 
  • Preferred experience with child care management software. Ideally Procare. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks 
  • Ability to be approved as child care trainer in Georgia 
  • Personal transportation required  
  • Available to work occasional nights and weekends 

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

  • Frequent driving. 
  • Occasionally standing for 2 hours or more. 
  • Sitting at the computer for 3 hours or more at a time.
  • Bending, frequent use of hands, stooping and moderate lifting (at least 25 pounds) required.
