LOCATION: Brewster, NY/ Remote

REPORTS TO: Creative Director

SALARY: $50,000

SPACE on Ryder Farm, a nonprofit residency program and organic farm located on the grounds of a 226-year-old family homestead in Putnam County, New York, seeks a full time Communications Associate. The Communications Associate will work closely with the Creative Director and senior leadership team on a variety of ongoing programs, as well as manage day to day external communications for SPACE. The Communications Associate will:

 

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Collaborate on the creation of a comprehensive external communications calendar 
  • Manage email campaigns, including content oversight, subscriber management, and segmentation
  • Manage SPACE’s website including content oversight and updates
  • Coordinate and publish content when needed for fundraising or PR purposes (e.g., staff bios, company overview,  media kits, etc.)
  • Compose all social media campaigns and review content
  • Review all external communications
  • Analyze and share communications and outreach analytics

PRESS, MARKETING AND ADVERTISING

  • Identify press opportunities in the local, regional and national markets and build press relationships
  • Draft press releases
  • Research, develop and deploy marketing strategies for all earned revenue and events Develop and manage marketing timelines 
    • Develop and deepen relationships for advertising of SPACE earned revenue streams
  • Manage and grow our presence in various public-facing directories, local guides and event calendars
  • Develop and manage marketing timelines
  • Conduct an audit of SPACE’s flyer distribution routes, seasonally 
  • Oversee sales, marketing and delivery of SPACE merchandise

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute and organize photo and video content in coordination with the Creative Director
  • Create new, and maintain existing, records and information for all archival external communications
  • Assist Creative Director and fundraising team in campaign collateral
  • Liaise with artistic programs, fundraising and farm operations, as needed
  • Related administrative tasks, as needed

 

REQUIREMENTS

Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the anti-racist mission, values and vision of SPACE on Ryder Farm. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience including exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, strong organizational and time management skills and an acute attention to detail. Must be proficient with Google Suite, Adobe Suite and all social media platforms. Experience and proficiency with Squarespace, Mailchimp and other external marketing tools preferred. Commitment to handling sensitive information confidentially and with discretion required.

SPACE on Ryder Farm is a grassroots organization where many team members may be asked to pitch in on other projects within the scope of their abilities and comfort. The Communications Associate should be open to learning and leading in a multitude of ways. This is a full-time position working out of SPACE’s Brewster location in Putnam County, with some flexibility regarding remote work at the discretion of the Creative Director and Executive Director.
