Job Details

SAIS is seeking a part-time accountant with non-profit experience. Average work week 16-20 hours. The position is virtual with a flexible work schedule. Preference given to candidates from the metro Atlanta area. While no travel is required for this position, there may be occasional in-person meetings/tasks. Start date: mid-January / flexible

Responsibilities

–Accounts payable: processing/paying invoices through Bill.com, expense coding, QuickBooks data entry, file maintenance, preparing 1099s.

–Accounts receivable: management of invoicing and receivables including dues from 380 member schools, entering event registrations, processing miscellaneous receipts, online bank deposits.

–Prepare monthly payroll including retirement plan and health savings account contributions.

–Produce monthly financial statements and other financial reports upon request.

–Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and monitor weekly cash account balances.

–Transfer funds according to cash flow needs.

–Assemble information and work papers for annual audit.

–Submit financial information to CPA for annual corporate tax returns and pension plan returns.

–Collaborate with staff to prepare and monitor annual budget.

–Produce quarterly reports for board of trustees.

Support / General

–Respond to inquiries and communications in a timely manner.

–Establish and maintain paper and electronic documents/records in appropriate files to ensure organization and access.

–Other duties/projects as assigned.

Key Attributes

–Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience in accounting operations

–Experience in non-profit accounting required

–Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) required

–Ability to manage integration with related platforms required (e.g., AMS, event registration software, online payment processor, Bill.com)

–Exceptional discretion and ability to maintain confidential information

–Strong verbal and written communication skills

–Professional demeanor when interacting with members and vendors 

–Analyzes situations, anticipates problems, creates solutions

–Self-motivated, enjoys working independently and maintaining accountability, and can prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines

–Conscientious, strong work ethic, extremely detail-oriented

–Physical Condition: ability to lift 30 lbs
