Make the Road New York (MRNY) builds the power of immigrant and working-class communities to achieve dignity and justice through organizing, policy innovation, transformative education, and survival services. Make the Road New York operates community centers in Bushwick, Brooklyn; Jackson Heights, Queens; Port Richmond, Staten Island; Brentwood, Long Island and White Plains, Westchester County. With a membership of 25,000, MRNY tackles the critical issues facing our communities, including workplace justice, tenants’ rights, immigrant rights and civil rights, TGNCIQ justice, public education, health care access, and immigration reform. (TGNCIQ = transgender, gender non-conforming, intersex and queer)

MRNY is a multi-service organization.  Our member-led organizing committees -- which work on the issues named above -- implement strategies to combat shared problems, and develop leadership and the capacity for civic participation. We also provide an array of high-quality bilingual services: We offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Spanish-language literacy, computer literacy, citizenship preparation, and in-school and after-school youth programs. We have a robust legal program that offers direct representation across a spectrum of practice areas, including employment law, immigration law, housing and benefits, and TGNCIQ civil rights; we also take on impact litigation as a strategy for achieving broad change. Our health program offers facilitated enrollment into health insurance programs and SNAP benefits, a community health worker home visit program, nutrition education and emergency food pantries, health care navigation, and more.  MRNY is an organization required to adhere to NYC COVID-19 Vaccine mandate.

The Data team supports the organization in building systems to collect and analyze data about Make the Road New York’s programs, both for internal and external stakeholders. Our Salesforce database has 225 users and 6 primary programs.

Current Opening:

The Senior Salesforce Administrator will be responsible for managing Make the Road New York's database on a day-to-day basis, including adapting it to meet changing needs, automating processes, building data analysis tools, and supervising the Database Associate. The Senior Salesforce Administrator owns the technical components of MRNY’s database system. The Senior Salesforce Administrator helps lead an organizational culture shift around learning from data to build power and improve our programs. This position will work remotely for the foreseeable future but must be willing and able to work out of one of our offices once we are safely able to return, and must be able to travel to the other Make the Road locations when needed.

Responsibilities Overview of the Role Not Limited To:

  • Support the Data team in leading an organizational culture shift towards embracing data as a method for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise and support the Database Associate in maintaining regular database processes (e.g. ticket management, onboarding/offboarding, etc.) and in their professional development.
  • Implement and adapt internal systems for conducting ongoing outcomes measurement and assessment as internal strategy and funding requirements shift.
  • Audit the system regularly and support deduplication processes.
  • Assess current manual processes to determine automated approaches through process builders and flows.
  • Assess current database training practices and develop new in-house Salesforce trainings.
  • Run reports in a timely manner and train staff on various report functions.
  • Support each department to maintain Salesforce documentation for end users that aligns with best practices. Continually develop organization-wide documentation of our database for end users and database admins.
  • Balance responding to internal Salesforce cases in a timely manner with longer-term projects.
  • Provide feedback to help shape the organizations Salesforce Roadmap
  • Continue learning new skills to improve our processes
  • Assist MRNY staff and other key stakeholders to determine appropriate metrics and benchmarks to help improve and further develop programs
  • Work productively with consultants and third-party vendors to develop and implement system improvement. Identify any issues on the horizon with vendors quickly and develop solutions collaboratively.
  • Support the Strategic Planning Team in using data to support goal development and evaluation.
  • Light traveling between Bushwick, Brooklyn and Corona, Queens with occasional additional travel throughout NYC. 

Requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the USA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Required to adhere to NYC COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate
  • At least two years of experience administering Salesforce, ideally in a nonprofit context with Salesforce’s Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
  • Proven ability to build and modify Salesforce automations, such as process builders and flows
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn how to customize tools such as FormTitan, SMS-Magic, Apsona, Pardot, and Conga Composer.
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator
  • Proven ability to aid complex projects where you must get the buy-in and participation of multiple stakeholders.
  • Prior proven experience working with community-based organizations a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community organizing and collective action
  • English/Spanish proficiency preferred

Salary Range and Application Details: $67,00-$92,000 based on a democratically determined salary scale and experience.
