AGENCY OVERVIEW: Allies for Every Child (formerly known as Westside Children’s Center) exists to give at-risk children and children living in poverty the foundation they need to increase their life choices and lead fulfilling lives. For over 25 years, Allies has been providing thousands of at-risk children and their families with critical, high-quality early education programs, family strengthening interventions, foster care and adoption services, and a range of vital, integrated services, including educational assessments, disabilities screenings, nutrition, dental and vision screenings, and pediatric health consultations.

JOB SUMMARY: Allies contracts with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to protect at-risk children and strengthen families. The Resource Family Approval Contractor completes RFA assessments on prospective resource families and provides Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting (MAPP) training. The Resource Family Approval Contractor evaluates resource families, using the SAFE format, completes RFA Psychosocial Assessments, and conducts MAPP trainings, as needed. The RFA Program Contractor is responsible for evaluating the psychological and social-emotional capacity of RFA applicants to assess their parenting capabilities, as well as the environmental appropriateness of the RFA applicant’s home.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Conduct RFA Assessment utilizing the SAFE format
  • Complete written RFA Assessment including revisions as needed
  • Conduct final home walk-through, as needed
  • Conduct MAPP training (if experienced), as needed

QUALIFICATION & EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work required
  • Certified in Structured Analysis Family Evaluation(SAFE) methodology required
  • Excellent psychosocial assessment and clinical skills
  • Understanding of the diversity of the child welfare population and ability to assess for multicultural competence of prospective resource parents
  • Experience providing MAPP training (if applying to provide training) preferred but not required
  • One year of foster care and adoption experience preferred
  • Flexible, able to work independently, and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must possess a valid California Driver License, insurance and have an acceptable DMV record and their own, reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with diverse groups and populations
  • All employees/contractors, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and adolescents who are served by our agency. Therefore, each employee/contractor must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions as well as inappropriate emotional expression are not acceptable.
  • Fingerprint background clearance (DOJ, FBI & Child Abuse Clearance Index), or approved exemption
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and PPD risk assessment, including verification of required immunizations
  • Class “C” driver’s license, proof of insurance, a safety record acceptable to CAA, and reliable transportation required
