Job Details
Children’s Museum of Atlanta, CMA, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), is the only educational venue of its kind in Atlanta. Through community outreach initiatives, educational programs, and exhibits designed for children ages 0–8, the Museum strives to spark every child’s imagination, sense of discovery and learning through the power of play.
CMA is looking for a Mobile Learning Spaces Educator to join our Outreach team. This position is a temporary, grant funded, position that will continue through June 30, 2022. Our fun, educational outreach programs extend beyond the walls of the Museum to promote literacy and learning to the greater Atlanta community.

Reports to: Manager of School & Outreach Programs
Position Status: Temporary/ Grant Funded/ October 2021-June 30, 2022/ 27 hours per week
Recommended work schedule: Monday-Friday
Primary role: Coordinates, facilitates, and creates programming for CMA’s Learning Spaces in partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta and nine (9) Learning Spaces sites in Clayton and Fulton Counties.
Responsibilities:
- Create, schedule and deliver monthly Learning Spaces programming
- Order materials
- Responsible for attendance and program data from collection to analysis.
- Assess programming and make recommendations for improvement and increased impact
- Coordinate with partners
- Serve as liaison for virtual activities with CMA team
- Attend any meetings relevant to this program
- Produce final report for program year end
- Support Museum Mission, Vision and Values
- Work as a positive and constructive member of a collaborative team
- Present a positive, energetic demeanor externally to members, guests and the community and internally to staff and board members.
- Must compellingly communicate accurate information about all museum programs and exhibits
- Other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Ability to work with children in an experiential learning environment
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including week-ends and holidays
- Ability to view things through the eyes of a child
- Understanding of and respect for a Learn through Play philosophy
- Knowledge of how to interact with children and adults
- Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to handle emergency situations with professionalism and competence
- Ability to work in multifaceted, team-oriented environment
- Ability to use cultural competence with experience serving diverse populations and communities
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of museum and nonprofit infrastructure and management environment
- Experience in the areas of event planning, team management and project management
- Undergraduate degree in Education, Science or Arts.
- Spanish language fluency desirable but not required
- Two years of customer service experience
- Valid driver’s license
