Science for Georgia is a non-profit that aims to build bridges between the public and the science community by providing information about the state of science policy in Georgia and about positive actions that people can take based on scientific research.

Science for Georgia offers a science communication training program that guides Science and Technology students and early career professionals in building bridges across disciplines and out into the greater community.  A key feature of these courses is the creation of content that is directly applicable to the core audience.

Science for Georgia is recruiting a Graphic/ Instructional Design Contractor to develop more visually pleasing versions of current course content (currently in ppt format) with the intention of adding visual elements that improve the structure of the courses and focus of future students. The Graphic/ Instructional Design Contractor should have a working knowledge of graphic design and instructional design and best practices for virtual and in-person learning modes. The Graphic/ Instructional Design Contractor will consult with the course director to develop instructional strategies, activities, and materials that optimize learning and assessment in their courses. Project deadline is December 31st, 2021.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Updating visual aspects of current course materials
  • Improving course content to improve student learning experience and grasp of training materials
  • Collaborate with course director and support staff on creating and testing secondary materials for use with students (downloadable handouts, quizzes, etc.)
  • Researches and recommends educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies, and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning,

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced training in Graphic Design and Instructional Design
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory/best practices
  • Experience in higher education course development
  • Experience in developing instructional materials for in person and online training courses 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with video production
