Manager of Membership and Operations

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Salary: $32,000 to $40,000

The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) seeks a dynamic, self-directed professional to oversee all aspects of GAFP’s operations, membership, and meeting registrations.  This position will also support our foundation, the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance.

The candidate must be able to balance multiple issues, pivot between issues and be flexible if priorities change.  This position reports directly to the Deputy Director.  

The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) is a non-profit membership association with 3,200 family medicine physicians, family medicine residents and medical student members across the state. Our mission is to promote the health of the citizens of Georgia by advancing the specialty of family medicine through education, advocacy, and service to family physicians in the state of Georgia

To achieve this mission, we advocate on behalf of family physicians, support them in practice with educational products and services, and foster community by connecting family physicians with one another.  GAFP is an organization that respects and promotes diverse perspectives and experience and supports professional development.

As an integral part of the Georgia Academy team, the Manager of Membership and Operations is the main point of contact for GAFP’s current and prospective members and partners. The occupant of position is responsible for fielding all general incoming phone calls and emails; providing follow-up on all questions and assignments in a proficient and timely manner; and maintaining a professional and member-centric attitude. Most common incoming inquiries relate to leadership meetings, renewing an existing membership, assistance with registering for our events, and industry questions.  The Manager is also responsible for outreaching to new members, handling outreach to our members, working with the DD for billing/payments, maintaining accurate member records and membership sales/registration follow up as needed. Other activities associated with supporting the Academy’s mission and meeting the needs and goals of the Academy will be assigned as needed.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Manager must be able to:

  • Understand and articulate GAFP’s mission and value proposition while keeping up to date on important industry, GAFP and GHFA happenings
  • Help guide members and industry to the membership benefits and GAFP events that fit their needs
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing with members, elected officials, staff, and non-members
  • Stay organized to be efficient and timely with requests for information and have great attention to detail
  • Conference support – Assist in the preparation of the conferences we produce. To travel to conferences (5-7 days per year) and work with the team in a variety of onsite duties.
  • Staff liaison to the Membership and Awards Committee which will include completing nomination packets for state and national awards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in order to exceed the expectations of the Academy’s current and prospective members, donors, and business partners.
  • Navigate through our membership database on a daily basis in order to maintain accurate and up to date membership records and maintain data integrity
  • Work independently and be proactive and self-motivated to accomplish tasks
  • Serve as the key personnel to keep the office running efficiently and smoothly acknowledging a blend of in-office and remote work.
  • Work in a team environment and prioritize projects in order to meet overall goals
  • Ability to learn and navigate through multiple computer applications with speed and accuracy
  • Strong MS Word, Outlook, Excel background, exposure to MS Teams desirable

In order to meet the needs of our current and prospective members, this role requires excellent listening, multi-tasking, problem-solving and time management skills. An interest in supporting the healthcare association and family physicians while working in a member-facing position and fast paced environment will prove to be beneficial in this role.
