The Atlanta Chapter is looking to fill a part-time position of Funds Development and Operations Manager. The position includes ongoing fundraising responsibilities under the direction of the VP Funds Development. This individual also works with the Atlanta Chapter President to bring efficiencies, organization, and relevant experience to chapter initiatives. As a key contributor to the Atlanta Chapter, the Funds Development and Operations Manager is passionate about our mission and able to effectively communicate the important role ARCS Atlanta plays in boosting leadership and advancement in science and technology in Georgia. The ideal candidate is self-directed and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines; is a strong collaborator, and thrives within a large volunteer organization by being flexible and demonstrating a willingness to assist with tasks at all levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Support efforts to strengthen relationships with existing donors; identify and cultivate new donors
  • Assist in the planning of and provide administrative support for internal funds development meetings, donor meetings, fundraising campaigns, and donor special  events
  • Manage donor solicitation process, prepare and submit all grants
  • Enter donor invoices and pledges, track payments, prepare giving reports, and send pledge and donation requests when due  
  • Coordinate with donors regarding matching gift programs
  • Assist in developing fundraising materials and content for web pages, emails, and social media posts
  • Attend Board of Directors, Funds Development Committee, and other high-level meetings
  • Assist in streamlining and bringing efficiencies to operating procedures through the implementation of technology and other solutions

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing skills to produce polished communications and materials
  • Strong comfort level with technology, specifically Google Workspace and its suite of applications, YouTube and other major social media platforms, Word and Excel; knowledge of or willingness to learn CiviCRM and QuickBooks
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 3+ years experience working in the non-profit sector, fundraising for higher education, or other relevant experience
  • Understanding of the Georgia philanthropic community, corporation and foundations, or willingness to learn quickly

Our members are passionate about financial support for their scholars and spearhead an annual giving campaign that garners donations from family foundations, individuals, and corporations. 

Since its inception in 1992, ARCS Foundation Atlanta has awarded over $6.5 million to outstanding science scholars at Emory University, Morehouse College, the University of Georgia, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Their fields of study include everything from aeronautics to zoology and address a wide swath of scientific problems - from COVID-19 vaccine development to T- cell activation to randomized algorithms in statistical physics.
