Girls Preparatory School (GPS) was founded in 1906 to provide girls with the necessary courses to pursue a college education. GPS has proudly graduated almost 6,000 young women since then. Currently, 130 faculty and staff serve 520 girls in grades 6-12 with a college preparatory curriculum that includes a full complement of humanities, arts, and STEM courses, and cocurricular programs of leadership development, athletics, performing arts, and community engagement.

General Description: The strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual fund program for unrestricted giving, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives designed to cultivate, solicit and steward alumnae, current and past parents and grandparents, friends, and other Impact giving constituents.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Development team to create and communicate messaging on the importance of supporting GPS through the unrestricted giving by increasing outreach and understanding;

    Establish alumnae class giving and participation goals for all reunion classes, and take the lead in working with volunteers to meet goals;

    Establish target ask amounts for all active alumnae, current and past parents and grandparents, friends, and other Annual Fund giving constituents;

    Recruit and train co-chairs for Annual Fund, Parents’ Fund, and Grandparents’ Fund;

    Partner with the Development team to recruit, train, and manage all volunteers working to cultivate, solicit, and steward Annual Fund prospects or to assist with fundraising events;

    Manage a portfolio of 100-150 assigned Annual Fund prospects ($1-$5,000) to build and strengthen pipeline donor relations with GPS;

    Design and implement the quarterly multimedia Annual Fund appeal strategy for all constituencies in partnership with the Marketing & Communications and Development Teams;

    Develop strategies for cultivating, acquiring, and stewarding graduates of the last decade; and

    Work with Development Team to plan, develop content for, and conduct GPS Development events designed to solicit and steward Annual Fund donors including Grandparents' Day, Phone-a-thons, Senior Class Campaign events, Faculty/Staff Annual Fund Campaign meetings, and other Annual Fund events.  


General Skill & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of annual fund campaigns experience, preferably in independent schools, and two or more years of volunteer management experience;

    Understanding of women's philanthropy, current giving trends, and factors that influence constituent giving;

    Ability to convey the value proposition for girls’ education and supporting the work of GPS for prospects who may or may not have daughters;

    Willingness to seek professional development and learning to build the skills needed to successfully raise support for GPS;

    Act in congruence with the school’s stated values of honor, respect, curiosity, individuality, and relationships; 

    Ability to identify and establish connections with donor prospects, analyze their needs, and develop strategies to capture the interest of these prospects and make the connection to the work of GPS in ways that build and maintain donor loyalty and trust;

    Professional demeanor, good judgment, and the ability to work independently yet collaboratively in a goal-oriented team environment; 

    Must possess a personable demeanor, a sense of humor, and a willingness to be engaged in the life of the school;

    Proficiency in social media, Google Suite, and constituent, relational databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge NXT by Blackbaud; and

    Demonstrated project management skills working specifically with multifaceted projects and diverse constituents.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Generally works in standard office conditions and climate; and

    Ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
