DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

This is the perfect role for someone with event-based fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting who is interested in helping shape and grow a foundation from the ground up. We’re looking to hire a candidate with 2+ years of experience who loves the nonprofit sector and wants to gain experience related to fundraising and/or healthcare.

This person will also be involved in donor communications and helping to manage our donor CRM (Salsa CRM + Engage). Day-to-day this may involve processing gifts and acknowledgment letters as well as direct mailings and gift reports as needed.

The Atlanta Neuroscience Foundation was launched in the fall of 2020 as the philanthropic arm of The Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta. This position will work with both the Foundation and the Center in development and fundraising capacities.

REPORTS TO: Director of Development

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

  • Lead coordination, planning, and execution of our annual signature fundraising events – the MSCA Annual Golf Tournament and MS Fest, a family fun day for patients.
  • Coordinate additional fundraising events and donor cultivation events as needed.
  • Develop and manage meaningful relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and vendors.
  • Support CRM management and gift acceptance in partnership with the Director of Development to keep donor records and contact information current.
  • Proof effective communications to donors, staff, board members and key stakeholders, grantors, community partners, and other audiences as needed. Examples include grant applications and grant reports, direct mail, digital marketing, and donor reports.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development and Chief Operating Officer to implement fundraising best practices.
  • Assist in the management and development of fundraising goals and work to achieve these goals.
  • Support organizational-wide goals through data-driven decision-making.
  • Adhere to the Code of Professional Fundraising Ethics, APRA Code of Ethics, and A Donor’s Bill of Rights.

As a supporting foundation, there are a few traits unique to our nonprofit that candidates should consider before applying.

  • You believe that “no” is not a complete answer and that thinking creatively, offering alternative solutions, and collaborating to deliver results are critical.
  • You have never had the thought, “that’s not my job” and understand that in a small nonprofit everyone gets their hands dirty together.
  • You are interested in helping to provide ground-breaking medical resources for life-long diagnoses. Our patients often come to us for their entire lives, and we continue to treat them with up-to-date technology and medicine. Our mission as a Foundation is to ensure financial support for the Center.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Why Should You Apply?

  • To truly make a difference by joining a growing and thriving healthcare Foundation.
  • To join a vibrant, collaborative office with a family-oriented and patient-first culture.
  • To make an impact on a start-up nonprofit with huge potential.

Who we’re looking for:

We also need you to:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of successful event-based fundraising experience.
  • Have strong CRM skills (Salsa preferred) and/or be a quick learner within our CRM.
  • Be highly organized with strong time management skills.
  • Have excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new things and think on your feet.
  • Have the ability to work through obstacles and challenges and ask questions when in doubt.
