OVERVIEW Action for the Climate Emergency (ACE) educates, inspires and supports young people to lead the fight for their future. We ensure they have everything they need to understand the science and advocate for solutions to the climate emergency. We envision a world in which a global movement, rich in youth leadership, has turned the tide on climate change. We believe an equitable, biodiverse, carbon neutral future is still within reach if we, the people, compel our leaders to act.
JOB SUMMARY The Program Manager will work to advance the programmatic and strategic growth of ACE through implementing ACE’s 501(c)(3) distributed organizing and campaign work in Ohio, across the organization’s primary issue areas of: climate education and storytelling, stopping fossil fuel expansion, and ushering in a new era of renewable energy.
The scope of responsibilities will include, but is not limited to: building, activating and managing state-based Action Teams; implementing national and state-based campaigns through state-based Action Teams; managing data and digital tools; partnership and coalition management in the state, managing in-state communications (e.g. text, email, and other modes) with the Action Team Network and state-based Action Teams, creating state-based campaign and action collateral, and potentially managing 20 state-based Action Teams doing education, climate advocacy and/or civic engagement work.
In this position, the Program Manager will work to strengthen ACE’s role and impact in advocating for an end to the era of fossil fuels, a swift and equitable transition to renewable energy, and an increase in diverse youth participation in our democracy.
This is a full time, remote position based locally in Cleveland, Ohio. Candidates must be based in Cleveland, though will work from a home office and will participate in in-person events as safety allows. The Program Manager will work from home, meet regularly by video chat with ACE team members, partners and youth, and conduct the majority of activities both online and in-person, when safe. The Program Manager must be available for regular travel within the United States, to participate in field work, conferences, actions, organizing, events, and to attend staff retreats as COVID-19 safety guidance allows.
