Job Details

Job Title:  Executive Director 

Reports To: Board of Directors  

Summary:

The Executive Director of Scottdale Early Learning will be a multi-faceted, collaborative leader with the cultural competence and expertise to advance the mission externally, and to develop and lead the staff and organization to its next level of impact.  

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees the operational, financial and programmatic efforts to further the mission of Scottdale Early Learning 
  • Ensures ongoing programmatic excellence through the development and execution of a robust fundraising plan in accordance with organization’s strategic plan 
  • Leads funding support from foundations, corporations, public sector funding sources, and individuals to support the annual budget 
  • Inspires donor prospects with enthusiasm, persuasiveness, and program knowledge to provide philanthropic support 
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with both funding and educational partners 
  • Develops and manages organizational budget  
  • Works in partnership with Board of Directors to implement strategic plan 
  • Hires, leads, coaches and develops strong, diverse team members 
  • Manages staff through creation and implementation of learning plans and programs, with knowledge of state and federal regulations  
  • Professionally represents Scottdale Early Learning in the community with frequent public appearances, public speaking and print opportunities 

Qualifications & Skills: 

  • BS/BA in Social Work, Business Administration, Education or other similarly related field. An advanced degree is preferred.  
  • 10+ years of experience in progressive, nonprofit leadership roles 
  • Demonstrated success raising funds for a nonprofit organization and continued advancement of relationships with funding partners 
  • Strong financial, business acumen and decision-making skills, including experience managing government funding 
  • Extensive experience in education preferred, particularly in early childhood education 
  • Experience managing multi site/channel staff/programs a plus 
  • Ability to identify early education/community trends and translate them into a vision 
  • Experience advancing a mission through public speaking, writing and media 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Commitment to children and their families, particularly children of color and refugee/immigrant communities 
  • Experience in working with a dynamic Board of Directors to accomplish strategic goals and complete an ambitious strategic plan 
  • Ability to engage, manage, motivate and unite people around common goals and strategies, and to drive teamwork and results 
  • Ability to manage, grow and lead an organization to a greater level of impact 
  • Honesty, integrity and an approach to leadership that respects, lifts and values the voices of other 
  • Collaborative, inclusive, team-oriented leadership style 
  • An innovative spirit and one that fosters new ideas
