The Organization:

Make the Road Nevada (MRNV), a 501(c)(3) organization, holds a vision for Nevada that begins with building a strong grassroots foundation in Las Vegas and it ends with elevating the power of working-class immigrant communities in every community around the state. We do this by informing, empowering, and mobilizing our community to take action on important issues that directly affect their families and loved ones.

Make the Road Action (MRA), a 501(c)(4) organization, is committed to building power for justice in immigrant and low-income working-class communities of color. MRA operates in five states - New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. We work to create social change, connect voters to the candidates and issues that are most important to them, and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment to create long-term impact in the communities that need it most. 

Make the Road States (MRstates), a 501(c)(3) organization is the national home for the second-generation Make the Road family of organizations that serves to uplift the voices of working-class, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA people, and people of color.

The Role:

The Digital Associate (DA) will support the Communications Director in actions and campaigns of the organization on digital platforms by developing content and monitoring digital platforms. This will ensure that messaging is consistent and aligns with the MRNV mission. DA will establish brand identity across all social media channels while developing content for online engagement and brand awareness. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Campaign Development and implementation:

  • Assists team in producing artwork for print and digital campaigns, including but not limited to media kits, event flyers, web, and social media assets, event programs, e-newsletter, animations, and other projects as assigned 
  • Regularly schedule and maintain all social accounts with new and existing graphics through social media manager (Hootsuite or buffer)
  • Assists the team in preparation for new ideas and fresh designs as assigned for print and web deliverables, servicing a variety of internal MRNV/MRA projects
  • Strong focus on editing website and creating content that showcases MRNV’s work
  • Resizes & rebrand existing artwork as assigned for print & web
  • Works in collaboration with Communications Department team
  • Assists with preparation for actions/press events as directed
  • Helps to ensure consistency and continuity with brand identity in all assets
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Attend weekly member meetings when needed
  • Perform social media monitoring and rapid response using a variety of tools and online resources to track daily relevant trends of relevant local issues as well as the national media landscape
  • Assist in writing and editing for online content
  • Visual storytelling including Video production, graphic design, and photography.

Member organizing and leadership development:

  • Engage and organize our communities through digital tools
  • Be proactive on how we can grow the participation of our membership online 
  • Recruit and manage digital volunteers, as needed, create and maintain community spaces for highly-engaged members, such as facebook and/or whatsapp groups
  • Support theUnderstanding of Gsuites   MRNV team to organize the community leading to and during actions and campaigns. 

Qualifications:

  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice work
  • Ability to work regular evenings and occasional weekends
  • Must be able to work weekends 
  • 1-2 years of experience in digital graphic designs 
  • 1-2 years of experience in general Photography/videography skills
  • Be able to make graphics through photoshop (Adobe program)

Job Competencies:

  • Proven ability to manage complex relationships and build consensus among diverse interests
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Has a general understanding of Adobe programs and Google programs
  • Understanding of Gsuites 
  • Able to meet deadlines with simultaneous projects

We have a robust legal program that offers direct representation across a spectrum of practice areas, including employment law, immigration law, housing and benefits, and TGNCIQ civil rights; we also take on impact litigation as a strategy for achieving broad change. Our health program offers facilitated enrollment into health insurance programs and SNAP benefits, a community health worker home visit program, nutrition education and emergency food pantries, health care navigation, and more.
