About Us

NDWA Labs is the innovation arm of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, one of the country’s leading progressive social movement organizations. At NDWA Labs, our goal is to build products that transform domestic work jobs into good jobs by bringing respect, living wages, and benefits to an invisible, undervalued, and vulnerable part of the economy. Rather than optimizing within the status quo, NDWA Labs leverages tech to disrupt power and fundamentally change the ways in which work is organized and paid, for the millions of women and immigrants in the domestic work industry.

Our flagship product La Alianza is solving one of the movement’s greatest challenges: finding, engaging and building trusted relationships at scale with workers who live and work in the shadows. By meeting house cleaners, nannies and homecare workers where they are digitally, conversing with them with respect and relevance, and providing both immediately useful resources and empowering information, we are now able to reach approximately 10% of the U.S. domestic worker population. La Alianza’s 200K+ subscribers reside in all 50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico, and we survey every week to learn about their working conditions, especially as they change during the Covid pandemic. We are leveraging this groundbreaking research to influence policy and legislation and to pave the way for economic indicators that are more inclusive and reflective of the informal economy and the women of color who work in it.

You can read more about La Alianza’s groundbreaking research in Bloomberg News and Telemundo; about NDWA Labs’ vision for expanding the safety net in Fast Company and NPR; and about the domestic worker movement in the New York Times.

The Role

NDWA Labs seeks an entrepreneurial, bilingual (Spanish/English) product professional to significantly grow the number of domestic workers who talk with us and trust us.

Your first objective will be to grow the number of Spanish-speaking domestic workers who subscribe to and regularly engage with La Alianza, our Messenger chatbot and Facebook registered news organization. Soon after, you will also experiment to drive growth beyond this instance -- for example developing and testing hypotheses that bring La Alianza to additional social platforms (e.g. TikTok) and/or iterate our chatbot program to reach new populations of domestic workers (e.g. English-speakers). You’ll work collaboratively across the Labs, NDWA and with partners to leverage opportunities for cross-promotion, impact in the policy space, and joint learning.

This is an opportunity for someone who is excited to make digital media work for social justice in ways it hasn’t before. Your innovations are more likely to be in content than in engineering (La Alianza is a product whose tech is relatively simple because we operate inside the Facebook Messenger platform using third party tools.) Each of La Alianza’s leaders directly writes or edits the chatbot flows their experiments depend on, and builds in our chatbot platform, Chatfuel. You will have support from a talented copy editor/translator, data analyst and freelance data engineers, content creators and advisors and will own both strategy and day-to-day execution. It’s a great fit for someone who loves the creativity and learning that can happen when you roll up your sleeves as a key, early member of a small team with a powerful reach.

This is the first role at NDWA Labs dedicated to growth, retention and engagement and we are looking for someone who can develop into a Labs-wider leader with direct reports, who also drives growth for Alia, our portable benefits platform.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and implement product strategies, roadmaps, and features to drive growth, engagement and retention.
  • Develop and test hypotheses — and conduct comprehensive data analysis, A/B test, and market research.
  • Manage all touch points of the new user experience
  • Understand organizational goals and targets in the growth space, and develop and manage a clear product roadmap with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate within cross functional teams to build tests and campaigns that span different Labs and partner products.
  • Listen to domestic workers through quantitative and qualitative data, and through direct conversations, and synthesize actionable insights.
  • Develop content (primarily in Spanish) for your experiments.
  • Manage multiple complex projects and priorities in the ever changing environment of a start-up within a social movement.
  • Recruit and manage contractors and staff as needed and within budget to accomplish growth objectives.
  • Document and share growth processes and learnings with Labs’ peers, funders and sister organizations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in product management, with proven experience growing audience in a mobile, media or internet product.
  • 3+ years of quantitative analysis experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Expertise in quantitative analysis, research, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how users interact with our products, identify growth opportunities, and execute on projects to drive growth, retention and engagement. Great content instincts and ability to structure experiments that rapidly validate/fail out hypotheses.
  • Strong attention to detail; excel in communication and time management.
  • Experience working in a fast-changing and hands-on start-up environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to progressive social change

We will prioritize the applications of candidates who meet these requirements and also demonstrate personal knowledge of and connection to domestic worker and immigrant communities.

Details

  • The annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - 110,000, dependent on experience.
  • Generous benefits, including employer paid comprehensive health, dental and vision for employee and eligible dependents; and 5+ weeks paid time off annually, including 3 weeks of office closure, most federal holidays, 12 vacation, and 12 sick days (prorated to start date).
  • Unfortunately we are not able to offer VISA sponsorship for this position at this time.

Women, People of Color, People with Disabilities and LGBTQ people strongly urged to apply. Applications will only be accepted electronically. Please submit a resume and cover letter here https://domesticworkers.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=197 . This position will remain open until filled.
