The Drake House offers short-term crisis housing, support, education, and empowerment to homeless single mothers and their children in north metro Atlanta. The organization’s goal is for the residents to achieve self-sufficiency by offering a comprehensive program of housing, life skills classes, mentoring, career, and educational support services and resources.  Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director will enhance the mission and vision of the organization by developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive development program that results in meeting annual fundraising goals and increased awareness of our cause.

Specific Duties:

  • Engaging with the North Fulton Community through involvement with civic organizations, businesses, and community groups to increase awareness, establish partnerships, and raise contributed dollars to support the organization’s programs;
  • Managing all facets of the development function, including liaison to the Board Development Committee, in order to enhance activities, events, personal solicitation of individual donations, and managing volunteers who participate in fundraising activities;
  • Maintaining a comprehensive donor engagement plan to include donor solicitation and retention strategies to targeted individuals, corporations and businesses, foundations, special events, and in-kind donations;
  • Facilitating marketing and public relations of the organization, including awareness campaigns, message and brand development, print and electronic materials, and media relations.

Qualifications: Accountability for time and work product and the interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with funders are required. A college degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in leading fundraising and communications efforts in a non-profit or civic organization is preferred.

The successful candidate will have high standards of professionalism and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, work as a member of a team with diverse people; maintain confidentiality; and function as a self-starter who sees projects through to completion.
