TITLE: Podcast & Video Producer

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The American College of Rheumatology is seeking a Podcast & Video Producer to manage all steps in the production, distribution and promotion of its podcast and video programming. As a hands-on, individual contributor this position will conceptualize, launch, and execute new series, formats, and functionality to expand the ACR’s current podcast programming; as well as manage video projects to enhance outreach efforts. The Podcast & Video Producer will also be responsible for developing and executing marketing and promotion plans to drive the growth of ACR’s audio and video channels and serve as the Marketing & Communication Department’s resident subject matter expert on producing and publishing professional content in a variety of audio and visual formats. We are looking for someone interested in healthcare and science with an eye for finding and telling compelling story angles that will resonate with a variety of target audiences. The ideal candidate should also be metrics-driven and have experience collecting and analyzing data from various hosting and end-user platforms. Advanced knowledge of podcasting best practices, audio and video technical development, and exceptional project management skills are essential to the success of this role.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the end-to-end development and distribution of all ACR podcast programming, including but not limited to:
    • Collaborating with designated leaders, staff and talent to plan, research, and script episodes
    • Developing necessary production schedules, processes and procedures to facilitate the consistent and timely development of content
    • Source, pitch, book, and prepare guests, including pre-interview calls (as needed) to provide guidance on recording, content delivery and answer any last-minute questions 
    • Manage recording sessions and post-production vendor
    • Distribute and optimize tagging, titles, and descriptions with SEO keywords within distribution and listening platforms 
    • Drafting engaging show descriptions, summaries, hooks, intros and outros, interview questions, show notes, and promotional posts
    • Developing interactive promotions such as audiograms, social cards, and videos
  • Develop and execute launch plans for new podcast series (including the creation of production schedules, branding, trailers, intro, promotional collateral, web presence, etc.) 
  • Conduct host training and development. This may include coaching them on interview best practices, conducting mock episodes, providing performance feedback, etc.
  • Develop and execute a dedicated internal and external marketing strategy to grow the ACR’s podcast listening audience
  • Utilize advanced programming strategies such as dynamic ad insertion to provide promotional opportunities
  • Manage all vendors involved in the production, hosting, and distribution of podcast and video programming
  • Craft compelling communications through video content, including storyboarding, script-writing, organizing video shoots, overseeing post-production, and performing small editing projects as needed
  • Develop project timelines and budget estimates and ensure the timely and on-budget completion
  • Introduce innovative ideas for developing audio/video programming to support other ACR initiatives
  • Collect and analyze monthly performance metrics (downloads, listening consumptions, viewers, trends, etc.) to identify trends and highlight areas of improvement, suggest new content, and adjust strategies and tactics to maximize the growth and success of ACR’s podcast and video products
  • Research and explore requirements for implementing new service offerings (i.e., monetization opportunities, new series, and CME programming)
  • Provide communications support to other ACR projects and initiatives as needed
  • Some travel, including but not limited to the ACR Annual Meeting, is required.
  • Any other duties as the Director, Public Relations or Senior Director, Communications, Marketing may assign.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum four years’ experience in podcast development and production or radio with a demonstrated knowledge of the business of podcasting; certificate program and sufficient professional experience may be considered
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the flexibility to work effectively with people at all levels
  • Verifiable success in being detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and growth-minded
  • Experience managing a podcast hosting and distribution platform (preferably Libsyn) 
  • Proficiency in audio and video production, pre- and post-production techniques, and recording equipment (i.e. microphones, Zoom H6 recorder, audio interfaces, video cameras, lighting, editing software, etc.) 
  • Strong knowledge of remote and on-location audio and video recording technology requirements, equipment and processes
  • Preferably has worked on building a podcast series from conceptualization to launch
  • Comfortable with data and basic quantitative analysis
  • Experience with audio/video editing, engineering or other aspects of production preferred
  • Experience with other multimedia production elements such as whiteboard videos, live streams, webinars, etc. a plus
