Responsible for assisting with operations of the Community Cat (TNR/SNR) program throughout the LifeLine shelters and Pets for Life program.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with DeKalb County Animal Services’ Cat Care Coordinator to arrange logistics for their Shelter-Neuter-Return (SNR) program.
- Work with Clinic staff to schedule spay/neuter appointments for community cats.
- Operate a transport program transporting cats to and from our facilities and returning/releasing them back to their original colony.
- Assisting with care for cats pre- and post-surgery as needed including feeding, moving from trap to cage (and vice versa), and verifying paperwork accuracy.
- Assist with checkout of community cats when needed at the LifeLine Spay/Neuter Clinics.
- Assist with community cat trapping in Fulton and DeKalb Counties when needed. Maintain records and data on these projects for tracking purposes.
- Work with the Community Cat Program Director and Shelter Management to answer questions from the community about free-roaming cats and other cat related issues. Offering advice and information, and helping to resolve community cat disputes within Fulton and DeKalb Counties.
- Actively seek ways to promote the Community Cat Program in specific communities. Work with the Pets for Life Supervisor as needed to provide information to the community.
- Maintain inventory of traps, ensuring they are clean, in working order and clearly marked with a LifeLine tag. Keep Clinic Director and COO up to date regarding trap inventory and needs.
- Maintain the van cleanliness and report maintenance and repair needs to the COO.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualification Requirements
- Passion for animal welfare and the care of animals.
- Excellent cat handling skills and an in-depth knowledge of behavior traits of owned and community cats. Experience with TNR/SNR programs and knowledge of best practices.
- Must be able to read and understand maps.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Training and teaching techniques needed. Public speaking a plus.
- Must be comfortable building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of people in the community including residents, business owners, schools and public facilities/parks.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Must possess a valid, GA driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Must prioritize projects to ensure timely completion.
- Lift up to 50lbs., with assistance.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekend, evening and holiday work when needed.
