Atlanta CASA Chief Executive Officer

Position: Chief Executive Officer

Reports to: Board of Directors

Effective: August 2021

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is directly responsible for the overall operational and fiscal soundness of the organization.  The CEO oversees the recruitment, screening, training and supervision of community volunteers, appointed by the court to advocate for children who have been abused and neglected and are involved with the child welfare system.  The CEO will represent the organization among key stakeholders, including court, county, and nonprofits partners and facilitate effective relationships with all constituents, including volunteers , Board members, supporters, elected officials and advocates. This position operates under the general direction of the Atlanta CASA Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administration
    • Assist the Board in the formation and implementation of strategic policies, procedures and activities, and provide coordination between the organization and the Board to execute Board requirements.
    • Evaluate recommended changes in policy and procedures on the basis of their effect upon current policy and/or program.
    • Present a clear picture of challenges facing the organization to the Board, including possible solutions to the problem.
    • Attend all board meetings .
    • Act as the official staff representative for Atlanta CASA ; give reports to the Board Chairperson and confer with other officers or committee chairs as necessary.
    • Preparation of agendas, worksheets and notices for workshops and/or training sessions for the Board.
    • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate qualified professional staff and volunteers. 
    • Meet weekly with program staff: a) to discuss any activities & challenges involving volunteers, recruitment, training, screening, and supervision: b) to inform staff of all relevant activities of the organization, including relevant Board decisions impacting the staff.
    • Ensure that all employee policies are appropriate and in force.
    • Complete annual performance reviews and ensure that quarterly feedback is provided to all staff.
    • Oversee quality assurance efforts to ensure compliance with CASA standards.
    • Direct and engage with contractors (e.g. accountant, IT, etc) to ensure that daily operations run smoothly and in a timely manner.
  • Financial
    • Assist board treasurer in preparing the annual budget.
    • Direct the implementation of the budget and ensure budgets are adhered to and reported on a monthly basis
    • Oversee the timely, accurate response to all funding opportunities to include grants, awards and other items
    • Approve all vouchers for accounts payable.
    • Review insurance policies and other employee benefits with the board of directors.
    • Coordinate and assist with audits annually and as directed 
  • Fundraising
    • Identify and assist with the preparation of grant proposals as necessary and ensure proposals are submitted timely and accurately.
    • Provide timely and accurate reports and schedules to the Board for ongoing and new grants and other funding sources.
    • Seek opportunities for additional donations/funding and maximize funds available from foundations, grants, state and federal agencies, and individuals.
    • Develop written/verbal presentations to corporate sponsors when requested.
    • Provide leadership and assistance to the board on all fundraising and resource development activities.
  • Program
    • Supervise and administer program policies and procedures ensuring approval by the Board of directors.
    • Provide program reporting and analysis updates to the Board and funding sources.
    • Remain knowledgeable of what programs are being implemented or considered by other CASA programs or agencies. 
    • Supervise and promote interagency cooperation among agencies, which deal with abused and neglected children.
    • Supervise the development and administration of professional education programs through workshops, seminars, and symposiums targeting volunteers and staff.
    • See that appropriate communication between CASA and court personnel, child welfare agencies and the legal community is maintained.
    • Oversee appropriate responses to all legislative and regulatory requests and ensure compliance at the highest standard for Georgia CASA programs.
  • Community and Publics Relations
    • Oversee the execution of recruitment and awareness plans aimed at volunteer recruitment, donor solicitation, and general awareness.
    • Serve as liaison with other community human service organizations, as well as to state and national CASA offices.
    • Make presentations to corporate and community leaders, as well to newspaper, television and radio media.
    • Oversee social media accounts across multiple platforms ensuring timely and coordinated messaging to promote Atlanta CASA

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration with a minimum of three years related experience in administration of a volunteer, non-profit, or public service agency; or a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related area with requisite experience in administering an organization or division involved in human social services.
  • Strong skills in fiscal management, resource development and maintenance, agency and program planning, and public relations.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, and other social services skills. 
  • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal relationship, conflict resolution, time management and multitasking skills are required.
  • Meet or exceed annual expectations for children served, staff and volunteer retention and funding goals as set by the Board

Travel:  The CEO will travel both outside and within the state.  Travel expenses will be paid as authorized by the board of directors and in accordance with the budget.
