BACKGROUND

Voices for Georgia’s Children (Voices) amplifies the needs of Georgia’s youngest residents in the chambers of the General Assembly, as well at the federal and local levels of government.  Voices is an independent, non-partisan, information clearinghouse and coalition builder. We promote pragmatic policies that recognize children’s needs are interconnected and best met holistically. Voices champions the “whole child” approach and is leading a movement of public and private stakeholders to advance systemic change on behalf of Georgia’s children.

We achieve our influence through advocacy with elected and appointed officials and through extensive collaboration and engagement of local, state, and national organizations.  We partner with academic and nonprofit organizations with deep knowledge of key children’s issues to ensure a research-base to our policy agenda.  We convene leadership teams of organizations with common objectives for collective advocacy; and we engage and educate a broad network of individuals and organizations to encourage a community culture that gives priority to children. 

PURPOSE

Nearly one year ago, Voices launched the Free Your Feels youth mental health awareness campaign to reduce stigma and facilitate youth seeking help, parents supporting youth, and connecting all those engaging with youth (e.g., teachers, afterschool providers, peers) with tools to support them.  The need for mental health support is great and the campaign is expanding.  Voices seeks to hire an experienced project manager to lead the expansion of Free Your Feels.  The consultant will manage the campaign’s communications plan and strategy.  The consultant must be able to build and maintain relationships youth, school systems and state agency representatives.   Funding for this position ends on June 30, 2022.

SCOPE OF WORK

 The consultant shall provide the following leadership and management support of the project:

1. Outreach and Community Engagement

          A. Coordinate a Teen Summit       

          B. Facilitate the design, plan development and implementation with a core group of youth leaders and key partners

2.  Free Your Feels Campaign Expansion and Maintenance

          A. Manage partnerships and relationships

                    1. Strengthen & grow youth engagement with the campaign

                    2. Maintain agency-level support of the campaign

                    3. Four County Rollout – schedule initial and recurring meetings to support adoption of the campaign within the 4 targeted counties

                    4. Engage other interested community organizations or counties to maximize campaign’s reach

          B. Resource development and dissemination

                    1. Update toolkit at regular intervals

                    2. Create and continue revising School Starter Guide

                    3. Maintain and disseminate calendar of upcoming events

                    4. Support the creation of additional guides as needed

          C. Communications

                    1. Maintain editorial calendar and compile content for Facebook and Twitter

                    2. Perform website updates

                    3. Create Outreach PowerPoint

                    4. Manage the FYF Gmail account

                    5. Create newsletters, as needed, to send to FYF listserv

                    6. Design and post content to FYF social media accounts

           D. Meeting Coordination and Facilitation

                    1. Conduct bi-weekly internal core team meetings on the campaign communications, plan, and strategy

           E. Coordinate work of support team including interns

QUALIFICATIONS

Consultant must have:

  • Strong connection and passion for youth mental health awareness and supports
  • Strong commitment to cultural humility and high level of self-awareness
  • Ability to connect with youth and understand their lived experiences
  • Solid project management skills with detail orientation and follow-through
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience utilizing Wix
  • High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and social media platforms
  • Ability to meet during standard business hours (9:00 am – 5:00pm)
  • Be a resident of the state of Georgia

TIMELINE

 Anticipated start date is September 7, 2021.  Funding for this position ends on June 30, 2022.

TIME COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION

The consultant will provide all labor, materials, and equipment required to complete tasks.  This project will require 30-40 hours per week.  Compensation will be provided on an hourly basis at a rate of $30 -$50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
