Founded in 1972, the LAA has grown over the past four decades to become the region’s leading agency representing Georgia’s Latino issues. The LAA offers a targeted menu of direct services that helps Latino individuals assimilate and become contributing members of Georgia’s community. 

Program Goal: The LAA’s College and Career Readiness Program empowers Latino students and families to succeed in higher education and career opportunities after high school graduation. 

Position Purpose:  The College and Career Readiness Coordinator will work as a member of the Youth services department to support the LAA’s Latino Youth Leadership Academy Mentoring Program and the College and Career Readiness Program through direct service delivery, administrative support, and logistical support as assigned.   

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement and enhance the overall College and Career Readiness Program Inspira-Pathway to Success program. 
  • Collaborate with program staff, teachers and other volunteers on site at host schools to execute daily program activities as assigned. 
  • Develop and improve program systems, written materials, procedures and training. 
  • Establish successful and trusting relationships with students, parents, school personnel, create, and sustain an environment that supports these relationships. 
  • Develop successful and trusting relationships with partner organizations.  
  • Recruit participants to the College and Career Readiness Program 
  • Responsible for intern recruitment and training for the program. 
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes and student academic progress to ensure student academic success.  
  • Serve as a liaison between cluster feeder schools, LAA, partners, and colleges to ensure all students are track to graduate on time  
  • Coordinate and organize Advisory Committee. 
  • Arrange field trips, college tours, enrichment activities and service learning activities 
  • Work with the team on the planning and implementation of the Latino Youth Leadership Conference. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (education, human services, or counseling)  
  • Experience working with middle and high school setting, or K-12 programs 
  • Must be a collaborative team player, detail oriented, have ability to work independently 
  • Have working knowledge on challenges and issues of immigrants,1st generation Latino students, low income families, socially, economically and politically 
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher), multimedia usage and database management 
  • Proficient bilingual English and Spanish oral and written language skills  
  • Excellent written, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Superior logistics planning and management abilities 
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds 
  • Must be flexible with hours, some weekend/evening hours are required
