Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Services & Events and working under the additional guidance of the Chief Marketing Officer, the Events Coordinator will oversee all of the planning and implementation of LifeLine events, as well as the post-event follow-up and reporting. This role works in collaboration with the marketing team, foster staff members and Volunteer & Events Coordinators at all LifeLine facilities. Goals include creating awareness, maximizing LifeLine presence virtually and at offsite events, fostering relationships with current and prospective supporters/partners, evaluating new events based on LifeLine’s events rubric, and leading off-site and virtual events. This position will be the main initial point of contact for all event inquiries our organization receives (excluding volunteer groups).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures LifeLine meets event partnership expectations. 
  • Ensures all events are fully staffed by recruiting volunteers, fosters, adoptable pets and staff where applicable, and understands they will be the back-up if necessary.
  • Emcees public, virtual, and internal events.
  • Works with the shelter staff to finalize adoption and foster applications.
  • Responsible for capturing and sharing event photos.
  • Communicates upcoming event details (including descriptions, expectations, and needs) with the events team in-advance of events to receive assistance in staffing and promotions. 
  • Adds all events to the website event calendar,
  • Promotes positive outcomes with the general public, donors, community partners, volunteers, fosters, and staff.
  • Assists staff with recurring adoption events when necessary.
  • Evaluates and reports event stats (e.g. adoptions, donations, merch sold, foot traffic, social media stats). 
  • Oversees event inventory to ensure successful event presence.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Animal welfare and/or event experience backgrounds desired.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including public speaking. 
  • Should be a self-starter who can manage event planning aspects independently and utilize problem solving skills. 
  • Must be available to work a Tuesday - Saturday schedule, plus flexibility to work some Sundays in order to lead events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, Asana and willingness to learn additional computer programs. 
  • Experienced in, or expected to learn, essential animal handling techniques and understand basic animal behavior. 
  • A passion for and experience in one-on-one, face-to-face relationship building in the community.
  • Highly developed emotional intelligence, ethical decision making, and capacity to navigate multiple interests to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Candidate must be highly organized and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Responds in a timely manner with appropriate and accurate information.
  • Ability to be adaptive and responsive to evolving priorities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member and establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. In some cases, this position may need to supply event materials (i.e. tents, tables, chairs, collateral) for our events and should have a reliable form of transportation that would enable them to transport these materials.
  • Supports a non-judgmental approach to people, adopters and the community.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, but not required.

This position requires travel for meetings and events. Staff members and meetings are located at several LifeLine facilities and events are hosted in various areas both inside and outside the metro Atlanta, GA perimeter. Professional development opportunities are included within this role.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an indoor office, a remote setting or outdoors at event sites in all types of weather; including low temperatures, high temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, noisy environments, and unpleasant smells. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
