The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 4 people are at risk of hunger. POSITION PURPOSE

The Stewardship Officer is responsible for concepting and implementing a formal stewardship program for principal, major gift, and midlevel donors. Reporting to the Associate Director of Major Gifts, this role requires a highly collaborative approach working alongside frontline fundraisers, Development Directors, Senior Leadership Team, and others in the organization to develop creative and personal opportunities to connect donors to the mission they support.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

• Reports to the Associate Director of Major Gifts and collaborates with Institutional Giving team, as needed.

• Expand the Major Gifts stewardship program to support the sophisticated Major and Principal Giving opportunities through various philanthropic vehicles 

• Concept, manage, and execute small-scale and mission-focused gatherings designed to cultivate and steward for Major and Principal Giving prospects on behalf of the Executive Director and Major Gifts team

• Provide reporting to Major Gift donors with customizable options for key print materials, such as Annual Report and mid-year Hunger Report, as well as support the Institutional Giving team

• Develop robust stewardship program to support new and emerging Giving Priorities donors

• Identify existing and develop new cultivation/stewardship assets along the pipeline that can be leveraged to advance relationships with prospects and donors 

• Develop intimate cultivation and stewardship opportunities in close collaboration with Giving Officers and Senior Leadership Team members for Principal Giving prospects utilizing staff and Board outside of the Development team to establish deeper connections to the mission

• Work alongside Individual Giving Officer to support their stewardship efforts for midlevel donors

• Create regular communications plan for Executive Director for Major Gift donors in tandem with Major Gifts Coordinator

• Re-conceptualize giving levels for Major Giving and work with Events team to rebrand annual stewardship event in April 

Performance Measurements

• Donors are engaged through a variety of stewardship opportunities and feel intimately connected to the mission of the Food Bank.

• Major Gift donors and prospects feel a personal connection with the Executive Director, Board members, and/or other staff outside of the Development Department

• An integrated stewardship program is refined, documented, and implemented to demonstrate transparency, convey gratitude, and highlight impact.

• Frontline fundraisers are able to consistently and personally steward donors through a variety of vehicles that are tailored to the donors’ needs. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Demonstrated history of executing events and stewarding Major Gifts donors and prospects
• Brings a creative and solutions-oriented approach to work 
• Does not shy away from diverse opinions and incorporating feedback
• Ability to work outside of the Development team to collaborate with key staff, Senior Leadership Team members, and board to create intimate access to the mission for donors

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES:             Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.

SALARY: starting at $75,194.12 

COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of complex intellectual and practical problems.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform advanced math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
