Position Posting: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 

Buckhead Christian Ministry has an immediate opening for a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to support our Volunteer and Community Relations department.  BCM is a faith-based non-profit whose mission is to keep people from becoming homeless and work to elevate their possibilities for economic empowerment.  BCM provides emergency and housing assistance and life-skills education with special emphasis on the needs of low-income workers.  

The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and training new volunteers, maintaining an accurate database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and communicating engagement opportunities with BCM to the public.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all request to volunteer and ensure a timely response.  
  • Assist with maintaining and developing a comprehensive recruitment, orientation, training, retention and recognition plan for individual and group volunteers to ensure that all volunteers are knowledgeable, engaged and feel valued. 
  • Schedule and facilitate ongoing orientations, trainings and support meetings with volunteers  
  • Collaborate with program and development leadership in developing and maintaining a comprehensive list of engagement opportunities throughout the organization for individual and group volunteers 
  • Work closely with the Volunteer and Church Support Manager to develop and provide monthly and annual reports on all individual and group volunteer activities to include number of volunteers, number of hours served and role retention.  
  • Manage, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of records in a volunteer management database (VolunteerHub) 
  • Serve as a primary BCM representative at fairs, festivals, community events, etc. in promoting volunteer and engagement opportunities.  
  • Develop and maintain appropriate collateral and communication materials for recruitment and retention of volunteers. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree  
  • A minimum of 2 years of non-profit and volunteer management experience required 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with volunteers and the general public and business community on behalf of an organization 
  • Experience working remote and maintaining a home office preferred  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, volunteer databases (VolunteerHub experience preferred) 

OTHER INFORMATION: 

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required 
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed 
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift at least 20lbs 
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively 
  • Excellent oral presentation skills
