Position Description:

The Programs Coordinator will support the engagement and contributions of external organizations locally and nationally, such as other cultural institutions, out-of-school time organizations, and community organizations.  In addition, this role will support coordination of other Science & Education department initiatives.

Specifically, this individual will contribute to the development and/or sustainability of ongoing initiatives across the department in the following ways:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Education Programs as needed
  • Help define project scope, goals, and deliverables for community programs
  • Creating, maintaining, and overseeing project timelines, event schedules, and other aspects of program operations
  • Help identify and develop relationships with key organizations—schools, community-based organizations, libraries, and cultural institutions—throughout the region
  • Recruit and support partnerships aligned with program goals and diversity, equity, access, and inclusion initiatives
  • Implementing program logistics to scale, including management of program activities and materials
  • Coordinating program and community engagement events
  • Providing technical assistance for community events and programs
  • Serving as a liaison between project partners, participants, and the museum
  • Assist in the maintenance of the project management systems, including partner tracking and data collection
  • Assist with evaluation and assessment of community programs
  • Support museum floor operations on an occasional basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing administrative duties in professional setting
  • Experience in community engagement and program coordination is essential
  • Strong collaboration, communication and writing skills required
  • Experience in informal education setting is preferred

Status:  Full-time and temporary
