Job Details

Legal Advocacy Team NCYL’s Legal Advocacy team engages in impact litigation across all the issues on which NCYL works. The team brings systemic cases to improve systems that serve children and youth, often in collaboration with other public interest law firms and with support from pro bono partners. A description of our current cases can be found here: https://youthlaw.org/strategies/litigation- strategies/?_sft_situation=active.

Position NCYL seeks to hire experienced impact litigators to lead and staff existing cases and develop new impact litigation on behalf of children and youth. These positions offer the opportunity to contribute to and develop litigation in the areas of education, child welfare, health, mental health, reproductive equity, juvenile justice, and immigration. Impact litigators at NCYL may litigate in one area or multiple areas. This is a great opportunity for people who want to use litigation to address government systems that often fail to provide youth equitable treatment and services to youth.

Company

About Us

The National Center for Youth Law believes in the incredible power, agency, and wisdom of youth.

For more than 50 years, we have worked to center the voices and experiences of youth blocked from educational, health, and social well-being opportunities, particularly Black youth and youth of color, LGBTQ youth, disabled youth, immigrant youth, and youth in child welfare and juvenile justice systems.

We are transforming systems – classrooms, courts, the justice system, and health care spaces – to extend equity, dignity and care for children and youth.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is a world in which every child thrives and has a full and fair opportunity to achieve the future they envision for themselves.

Our purpose is to amplify youth power, dismantle racism and other structural inequities, and build just policies, practices, and culture that center youth.

Our mission is to center youth voices and experiences through impact litigation, policy advocacy, collaboration and research that fundamentally transforms our nation's approach to education, health, immigration, foster care, and youth justice.
