Community Outreach Coordinators are an integral part of the program, delivering critical messages, resources, information, and services to people and pets in our communities of focus. Community Outreach Coordinators work specifically to fulfill the mission of the Pets for Life (PFL) Program as well as the mission of LifeLine Animal Project overall.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct ongoing door-to-door community outreach using the PFL approach to pet owners in our communities of focus on the issues of spay/neuter and general pet wellness.
  2. Engage pet owners on and offer spay/neuter services for their pets and help to identify and address medical, health, behavior and wellness concerns.
  3. Communicate effectively with the Community Outreach Director regarding client situations, special cases, additional client engagement needs, etc.
  4. Submit status reports on a timely basis.
  5. Assist with scheduling spay/neuter and veterinarian appointments and transport pets to and from spay/neuter and veterinarian appointments.
  6. Identify and manage the trap/neuter/release of community cat colonies. Communicate and coordinate with colony caregivers until all cats are vetted. Continuously engage with caregivers to ensure cats that are new to the colonies are identified and vetted.
  7. Prep the PFL Community Center and transport vehicles for appointments and outreach. Clean and maintain PFL center, transport crates, and vehicles.
  8. Report all required vehicle and building maintenance and repair to the Community Outreach Director.
  9. Follow up and continue engagement with clients according to the program guidelines.
  10. Complete and submit all data collection forms and implement program measurements.
  11. Build relationships with community members and with other local animal organizations, community groups, community leaders, etc.
  12. Assist in planning and implementing Community Outreach events.
  13. Assist when needed with fundraising events, community presentations, and other community educational opportunities.
  14. Serves as a spokesperson for PFL and LifeLine Animal Project when needed, including any media and community events.
  15. Other duties as directed by a supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High School Diploma.

2. Experience and/or desire for community advocacy work.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Must be 18 years of age.
  2. Must be able to communicate effectively, especially regarding PFL.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational skills.
  5. Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  6. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  7. Must be able to pass a background check and/or DMV check.
  8. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  9. Willingness to travel.
  10. Must be able to move/lift 50 lbs, bend frequently, and stand throughout the workday.
  11. Must be comfortable working around all types and temperaments of cats and dogs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee is required to work indoors and outdoors in all types of climates, including inclement weather, and hot or cold temperatures.
