Job Title: Nutrition Early Care and Education Manager 

Department: Nutrition and Family Well-Being 

Supervisor: Vice-President, Nutrition and Family Well-Being 

Salary: Based on experience 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Implement Farm-to-Early Care and Education strategies to child care programs across the state (35%) 

  • Assisting sites in creating and maintaining edible gardens 
  • Integrating preparation and cooking of food into early childhood curriculum 
  • Coordinating local food efforts between programs and local farmers 
  • Coordinating collaborative efforts with partners and state coalition 

Training and Technical assistance (35%) 

  • Coordinate and provide on-site technical assistance (observation and consultation) and group workshops for child care programs and parents 
  • Develop individual plan of improvement for each child care program in projects 
  • Develop and/or provide training sessions based on needs identified within the community 
  • Develop the monthly Harvest of the Month resources to help early child care providers implement Farm-to-ECE concepts into regular curriculum 

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Quality Improvement (15%) 

  • Assist programs in maintaining compliance with CACFP standards 
  • Provide consultation to improve menus 
  • Promote family serving during meal service 
  • Ensure nutrition and physical activity efforts are consistent with Quality Rated standards when applicable 

Administration (10%) 

  • Distribute grants to participating child care programs 
  • Complete monthly reports 
  • Coordinate efforts with Compliance Manager and local Nutrition Program Consultants 

Other (5%) 

  • Participate in the planning and execution of community events. 
  • Presentation to stakeholders 
  • Meet all deliverables as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Dietetics, Nutrition, Health or related field (Bachelor required). Dedicated to on-going professional development 
  • Experience working in a child care settings 
  • Experience with nutrition programs in early childhood education or school-age setting: CACFP, SFSP, NSLP, Farm to ECE/Preschool, etc.  
  • Experience in preparation of healthy meals and snacks  
  • Knowledge of Bright From the Start regulations, Quality Rated system, Environmental Rating Scales and Georgia State Funded Pre-K system 
  • Strong organization skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills (written and oral). 
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Knowledge of National Accreditation standards and assessment tools including the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA), Council on Accreditation (COA), and the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) 
  • Valid driver’s license and personal transportation required 
  • Available to work occasional nights and weekends 
  • Team player 
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently 
  • Available to travel to all Georgia counties (50%-60%)  
  • Georgia Approved Trainer, preferred.  Please submit a copy of your training approval letter. 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Frequent driving 
  • Consistently standing for 2 hours or more delivering training 
  • Sitting at the computer for 3 hours or more at a time 
  • Bending, frequent use of hands, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting (at least 25 pounds) required 
  • Noise level in the work environment may be high at times
