The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 210 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 4 people are at risk of hunger. Join our friendly, collaborative and hardworking Development team. We’re looking for a talented fundraising professional to fill the position of Manager, Donor Data Analytics and help lead the fundraising team members with the business intelligence, analytics, dashboards, and reports they need to effectively grow fundraising revenue.

POSITION PURPOSE

As a core member of an integrated department with a commitment to excellence, the Manager, Donor Data Analytics is responsible for providing leadership and fundraising team members with the business intelligence, analytics, dashboards, and reports they need to effectively grow fundraising revenue. The Manager works alongside the Director, Development Operations to develop the donor data & analytics strategy and framework for the department. The Manager proactively seeks to understand the needs of leadership and the fundraising team and to design and implement efficient, effective data & analytics services that meet those needs. The Manager continually enhances approaches to business intelligence, donor data segmentation, portfolio quality, and prospect research to enhance the donor experience, provide insights to leadership, simplify fundraising, and accelerate revenue growth, especially from relationship-based fundraising.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Business Intelligence
•    Collaborate with Business Intelligence team to align fundraising analytics framework with overall goals, standards, and processes.
•    Design, build and analyze dashboards and reports (using business intelligence tools, such as Tableau) that provide insights into fundraising trends for board, executives, and department leads use in managing the fundraising program on a regular basis.
•    Participate in budgeting, planning, and forecasting meetings with leadership, serving as a subject matter expert in interpreting dashboards and reports and identifying strategic implications.
•    Develop and implement the department’s planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes and tools, partnering with fundraising and finance partners to ensure cohesive, efficient processes.
•    Partner with leaders and fundraisers across the department to understand dashboard and reporting needs.

Advanced Targeting & Analytics
•    Support the Annual Fund team in designing and implementing strategies for understanding the donor base and creating a customized experience through advanced targeting and analytics
•    Produce ad hoc analyses, dashboards, and, upon request. 
•    Collaborate with IT to streamline technology solutions.

Department Training and Procedures
•    Conduct training for all frontline fundraisers on analytics related to their line of work.
•    Collaborate with teams to create and document team processes related to their line of work.
•    Recruit and manage volunteers to work on department fundraising initiatives.
•    Other duties as assigned, which support the Food Bank’s goal of increasing fundraising in support of programs and services that benefit our community
 

QUALIFICATIONS

    4-6 years professional experience and demonstrated success in analytics and business intelligence; experience supporting fundraising initiatives in a nonprofit Development environment a plus.
•    2-3 years experience with a business intelligence platform—such as Power BI, Domo, Tableau, etc.—preferred.
•    1-2 years experience with a donor database, with Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred. 
•    Excellent research, planning, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills.
•    Strong interpersonal, organizational and communications skills; must be comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment.
•    Ability to work independently under deadline, juggle multiple priorities and maintain a professional work style.
•    Superb attention to detail and superior data entry skills.
•    Must possess excellent judgement with confidential and sensitive data.
•    Ability to work some evenings and weekend events as needed.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundraising platforms, such as Engaging Networks.
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.

COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of complex intellectual and practical problems.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform advanced math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
