We Are

Headquartered in downtown, Washington, DC, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is an organization with over 15,000 individual attorney members who practice and teach immigration law. For our members, we provide continuing legal education, information, advocacy, professional services, and expertise.

Founded in 1946, AILA's mission is to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.

The Team

AILA’s Professional Development Team drives revenue, creates member value, and advances member professional development through the association's educational programs and events. These programs include in-person and virtual continuing legal education conferences, audio and web seminars, online learning content and courses, and conference handbooks and materials. The Professional Development Department works closely with the Meeting Operations Department to coordinate logistics for all programs and to ensure CLE accreditation is obtained for AILA educational content.

Your Role

As the Education Program Manager, you will provide planning, development, and financial management for the association's educational programming. You will work with AILA staff and volunteer committees to design and produce relevant and timely continuing immigration law education courses. Managing full life cycle projects to include reviewing promotional and marketing materials, you will contribute to the association's success through meeting revenue and profit goals with an eye towards continuing to strengthen and expand the revenue-producing potential of AILA’s education programs. You will also oversee the production of distance learning programs (audio & web seminars) and manage the Education Coordinator.

Your Background and Experience

To perform successfully in this role, you will have a solid understanding of the education needs of the immigration bar, have demonstrated leadership experience and ability to direct, manage, and motivate a team, the capacity to handle multiple competing priorities – including the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, have exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills, and the ability to design and implement formal programs or policies and/or provide expert advice to other professionals.

Our Workplace

We offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment with a competitive compensation package based on your experience and qualifications. Our generous benefits include 100% of an employee’s Medical/Rx, Dental, and Vision premiums, as well as contributions towards dependents’ premiums; a 401(k) with up to 3% matching contribution upon enrollment, employer-paid disability, and life insurance, and commuter subsidy. In addition, we provide employees with flexible scheduling and telecommuting options and plenty of time away from the office to bolster creativity and recharge. Added perks: four-week paid parental leave and a four-week sabbatical every tenth year of service.
