Position Title: Data Analyst

Position Location: CPD/A has offices in NYC and DC, but for this role, we will consider candidates who live outside of our office areas (but within the US). 

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action is seeking a full-time, temporary Data Analyst for a 6 month period.

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 53 affiliates in 34 states and Puerto Rico, and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. About the Position:

CPD/A is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to assist in driving key decisions around future civic engagement and political campaigns, provide frontline support to our diverse network of affiliates, and lead on program evaluation. 

The ideal candidate will have previous issue, advocacy, and/or campaign experience in data analytics, and have exemplary relationship building and communications capabilities. Applicants must be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values.

The Data Analyst will report to the National Director of Data Initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

The Data Analyst Will:

  • Work with the National Director of Data Initiatives to drive 2020 Program Evaluation by using data in Civis Platform, tool data, and other sources. Perform deep analyses of draft priority states for 2022 to inform future CPD/A investment and work. Collaborate with the National Director of Data Initiatives to share the latest data, analytics, movement tools, and trends with CPD/A’s network of affiliates.  Ensure political data is clean and well-managed in various systems and tools, including de-duping, standardizing, making sure data coming through pipelines and syncs are accurate, etc. Create cutting edge reports in Periscope using data from Civis. Build and automate queries to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Other data projects as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • At least 1 year of experience as an analyst using SQL. Moderate or better SQL experience. Proven competency in data quality control and standardization (ETL). Experience connecting data to issue, advocacy and/or candidate voter outreach programs. Ability to clearly communicate complicated data and analytics reports, systems, process, and technical concepts; Comfort utilizing and/or evaluating predictive modeling. Strong quantitative skills in analyzing raw data, drawing conclusions, and developing recommendations. Experience using Civis Platform. Expertise in building reports and data visualizations. Ability to work across departments and teams, some of which are entirely remote. Capacity to independently lead an analytics project to completion Creative problem-solving skills and a solutions oriented attitude.

Candidate Nice to Haves:

  • Administrative experience with VAN, EveryAction, Hustle, ThruTalk, Strive Digital, Outvote, New/Mode, and other progressive movement tools. UNIX, R or Python experience and knowledge. Experience with Periscope for reports. Deep familiarity with Targetsmart data and table structure.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $65,000-$80,000 and is category 2. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is available here.
