Job Title: Council Trainer 

Reports To: Senior Training Manager 

Status: Part time –Non-Exempt 

Salary: $17-19.00/Hourly 

Location:  Mableton, GA or Service Center Location 

JOB SUMMARY 

Deliver direct services to volunteers to support the training and retention of adult members. Work directly with the volunteers to promote and support the council’s financial and business goals. Provide support to the volunteer trainers throughout the council footprint by offering in-person classes at various geographic locations and assuring that volunteer trainers are confident and prepared to facilitate trainings for other volunteer leaders.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Facilitates training courses regularly throughout the council jurisdiction. 
  • Facilitates and meets established objectives and satisfaction scores for all courses delivered. 
  • Ensures the accurate distribution of resources and information to volunteers. 
  • Identifies the need for a provides problem solving and conflict resolution when appropriate and in a timely manner. 
  • Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts’ message of pluralism and diversity to all members of the council. 
  • Keeps current of all council program information and supports training and messaging that is offered to trainers and volunteers. 
  • Acts as the council subject matter expert for all item related to and impacting adult training. 
  • Provides required reports as needed to assist the council in meeting their goals and objectives. 
  • Represents and actively participates in volunteer-led weekend training events such as Outdoor Blast, Mountain Magic, and Super Saturdays 
  • Promotes the direction of Council and national initiatives. 
  • Always demonstrates and promotes a climate of courtesy and professionalism. 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information. 
  • Within the first six months of hiring date earns certification as:  

          - Red Cross First Aid Adult and Child CPR Instructor 

          - Safe Sitter National Program Instructor and other programs                            as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Teaching or training experience 2 years; professional certifications in training or teaching a plus. 
  • Ability to work well with people of multiple cultures and backgrounds. 
  • Ability to learn and facilitate a wide range of trainings designed by Girl Scouts or other certifying agencies. These will include trainings related to parent engagement, troop leader skills, STEM programs, and outdoor programs. 
  • 4-year college degree 
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s license 
  • Must meet a criminal, national sex offender search, motor vehicle and credit background. 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Volunteer experience in Girls Scouts is a plus 
  • Strong oral or written communication skills. Bilingual skills an asset 
  • Strong human relations skills: ability to motivate people in small and large group settings. 
  • Experience in working with youth in a formal or informal setting, such as teaching or youth development-related programming. 
  • Strong ability to self-manage by working independently and demonstrating a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to use technology and learn modern technology applications. 
  • Ability to give and receive construction feedback in a professional manner. 
  • Flexibility and openness to changing work priorities. 
  • Promotes and internal culture of teamwork and accountability to one another. 
  • Dependability is key to this position since classes are scheduled in advance and volunteers arrange their time to be at the class. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Willingness or ability to work primarily evenings and weekends. 
  • Ability to attend, in-person, team meetings monthly. 
  • Ability to drive throughout the council footprint as necessary, dependable transportation a must. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Requires the ability to work in comfortable but varying work environments where the council classes are held. 
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended period and to regularly carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
