Responsible for all aspects of financial management including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal control policies and procedures. Responsibilities include:

Financial Management

  • Manage all aspects of financial accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, non-profit accounting including management of designated funds, and program accounting
  • Ensure Center compliance with GAAP accounting
  • Develop, revise and maintain the Center’s internal financial control policies and procedures
  • Reconcile daily cash, monthly banking statements, monthly accounting entries
  • Create and ensure accuracy of monthly accounting entries, GL, and financial statements
  • Meet regularly with the Treasurer and the Chair of Finance for the Board to cooperate with fiduciary oversight and accountability, ensuring accuracy and transparency of financial reporting
  • Manage Center banking relationship including banking, corporate credit cards, line of credit and loans
  • Oversee selection, transition and management of Center’s financial accounting system from Shelby to a new accounting system

Financial Reporting and Budgeting

  • Present all financial reporting to senior leadership and board in an accurate and clear manner with explanatory narrative
  • Create and ensure accuracy of monthly financial reports including statements of activities with budget to actual performance monthly and YTD, balance sheet, program reviews and designated funds utilization and balances
  • Coordinate and create annual budget forecast and present to senior leadership and board
  • Coordinate and present annual program budget and performance reporting to senior leadership and board at regular intervals
  • Work with annual auditors to complete independent annual audit, providing all necessary documentation
  • Coordinate and complete preparation of annual IRS Form 990
  • Work closely with Director of Development to ensure accuracy of financial contributions reporting
  • Work closely with Director of Operations to ensure accuracy of financial reporting to Board and satellite Advisory Committees

Financial Analysis and Strategic Thinking

  • Work closely with the Board and leadership team to provide analysis for financial decision-making
  • Regularly track measures of financial performance and report to Board and leadership
  • With a detailed understanding of financial business model and data, create projections and feasibility analysis to support compensation, programs, and grant administration
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial staff members in an effective and understandable manner
  • Willingness to coach, mentor, and educate other staff regarding their financial knowledge and how this can be leveraged to fulfil the mission of the organization
  • Ability to manage in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the organization
