Job Title: Language and Literacy Coach 

Supervisor: Vice President, Early Care and Learning 

Salary: Based on experience and education 

Location: Atlanta Office 

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:  Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for position. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Provide group professional development facilitation  
  • Provide site-based coaching to staff at child care programs  
  • Develop an internal professional development model to embed content into technical assistance best practices 
  • Deliver monthly capacity-building training for site administrators and teachers 
  • Conduct program monitoring  
  • Support scaled site-based coaching 
  • Plan implementation and design 
  • Site identification and recruitment 
  • Delivery of professional development 
  • Author professional development content  
  • Demonstrate ability to facilitate the coaching cycle using timely goal-focused meetings and conversation 
  • Engage in a consistent coaching cycle that is purposeful and reflective 
  • Gradual release of skills through the “I do, You do, We do” 
  • Provide intentional and purposeful feedback (e.g. joint problem solving and setting goals) 
  • Operate from a cycle of reflection and continuous growth 
  • Make clear connections between child outcomes and Read Right from the Start (RRFTS) strategies 
  • Understand, articulate and model RRFTS strategies 
  • Understand the difference between a knowledge, skill and mindset (will) gap and how to appropriately support each 
  • Collaborates with team to plan, reflect and implement coaching 
  • Conduct internal pulse checks to determine if the work is on the right track 
  • Intentional and purposeful scheduling and planning (personal and site based) 
  • Understand and implement a variety of best coaching techniques (i.e. modeling, video reflection, joint conversation, co-teaching, etc.) 
  • Has knowledge of the change process and includes in coaching 
  • Consistently uses a variety of data to inform all levels of coaching 
  • Offer strength-based coaching and empathy 
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate on-going change 
  • Apply adult learning principles to all aspects of work 
  • Attain and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all Cox Campus relevant courses to inform all coaching 
  • Provide professional development on Cox Campus courses 
  • Use strategies and appropriate tools to objectively observe the adult and the program 
  • Use positive and culturally relevant “people skills” to develop respectful and responsive relationships 
  • Begin work by establishing rapport, clear expectations and honoring the partner’s voice 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage own time, set priorities, meet deadlines, work without direct supervision, and contribute to team atmosphere 
  • Experience working with diverse communities and sensitivity to needs and concerns of various participants 
  • Use technology to be innovative and efficient, like: using video as a coaching tool, using private groups to connect adults, etc. 
  • Demonstrate active and responsive listening techniques with adults 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Reading, Speech Language Pathology, or a related field  
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a coach to staff at child care programs or other ECE staff 
  • Eligible to be a state approved trainer 
  • Experienced with group professional development facilitation  
  • Experienced in training development and delivery 
  • Experience in Birth to Pre-K educational programs and/or programs for language and literacy  
  • Proven experience with site-based coaching  
  • Apply innovative approach to coaching and mentoring 
  • Knowledge of Cox Campus courses and Read Right from the Start (RRFS) 
  • Knowledge of Georgia’s Quality Rated Improvement System, Child Care Resource and Referral Services, and Bright from the Start child care rules and regulations 
  • Proven experience in collaborating with staff and teams across multiple offices and programs 
  • Utilize a range of effective communication techniques designed to address both verbal and nonverbal communication 
  • Effective presenter to small and large groups
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint 
  • Commitment to equity and diversity, promoting strong ethics, and ensuring fair and equitable treatment of staff and partners 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Reading, Speech Language Pathology, or a related field  
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a coach to staff at child care programs or other ECE staff 
  • State approved trainer
