Position

NCYL seeks a Senior Education Liaison for the Compassionate Education Systems Arizona program in Maricopa County, a collaboration with Phoenix Union High School District and Arizona’s Department of Child Safety (DCS). This person will be passionate about improving education outcomes for youth in the foster care system. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work on a dynamic team and have deep impact on young people.

Essential Functions

  • Improve educational outcomes for youth in foster care by working directly with youth to identify their educational goals, utilizing effective education planning, advocacy, and addressing barriers to full educational engagement.
  • Participate in school site, district meetings, and local advocacy efforts to advance awareness of challenges, educational supports, and advocacy solutions needed to improve educational outcomes.
  • Track required data in a web-based case management tool in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Support capacity-building efforts with site based, district and county partners, through presentations and trainings.
  • Support demonstration site reporting, evaluation and program progress tracking.
  • Support the creating and development of promotional material.
  • Represent and provide coverage in the absence of the Program Manager.

About Us

The National Center for Youth Law believes in the incredible power, agency, and wisdom of youth.

For more than 50 years, we have worked to center the voices and experiences of youth blocked from educational, health, and social well-being opportunities, particularly Black youth and youth of color, LGBTQ youth, disabled youth, immigrant youth, and youth in child welfare and juvenile justice systems.

We are transforming systems – classrooms, courts, the justice system, and health care spaces – to extend equity, dignity and care for children and youth.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is a world in which every child thrives and has a full and fair opportunity to achieve the future they envision for themselves.

Our purpose is to amplify youth power, dismantle racism and other structural inequities, and build just policies, practices, and culture that center youth.

Our mission is to center youth voices and experiences through impact litigation, policy advocacy, collaboration and research that fundamentally transforms our nation's approach to education, health, immigration, foster care, and youth justice.
