The Red Door Project (RDP) is an award-winning nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon, founded in 2011 by Kevin Jones and Lesli Mones. RDP envisions a society where our differences catalyze listening, learning, and thoughtful action. Our mission is to leverage the power of stories to change racial ecology. Ecology is the interaction of differences to create mutual benefit. We believe that embracing our social, cultural, and racial differences leads to wholeness, and the way to change our ecology is to bring more difference into the spotlight.

Our current project is The Evolve Experience (Evolve), a unique learning opportunity that interweaves monologues that present perspectives from both police officers and Black Americans regarding their lived experiences with race and policing. The accompanying curriculum provides a non-polarizing framework for engaging in potentially divisive conversations, promoting empathy and trust, and building strategies for systemic change.

In 2020 we piloted our Evolve project. Today, we are budgeting for $1 million in earned revenue by 2022 from its distribution. This will allow us to begin moving away from a reliance on contributed funding to build our sales and engagement platforms. To meet this goal, we have identified three target markets including Corporations, Law Enforcement and Judiciary and are open to others.
