Job Details
The Georgia Ag Experience is a new program of the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture. Our 36-foot mobile classroom visits elementary schools across Georgia to teach students in grades 3-5 about the importance of agriculture. Our high-tech mobile unit showcases Georgia’s top commodities and brings the farm directly to the students. This “in-school” field trip allows students to take a deep dive into Georgia agriculture and explore future careers. We partner with county Farm Bureau offices to implement the program at schools. We are looking for an energetic candidate with a strong passion for teaching students about agriculture. Our ideal candidate gets excited about supporting a growing program and developing new partnerships to improve the educational experience for students. He/She needs to have strong communication and organizational skills and is able to work with a variety of people. Must be comfortable following a rotational schedule for in-person teaching with frequent overnight travel across the state. This position will hold 5 core responsibilities: School/County FB Coordination, Mobile Classroom Instruction, Curriculum Development, Local Partnerships and Fundraising. An ideal candidate lives in central Georgia and has the ability to frequently travel the state. They will work a rotational schedule of in person instruction and at home work. Bachelor degree and current/past GA teaching certificate is preferred. Full benefits provided. Goal is to hire and onboard 2 people to start in July.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
School and County Farm Bureau Coordination
- Work with committee to set annual schedule and approves quarterly visits
- Work with approved schools/organizations to develop class schedules
- Communicate and follow up with school/organization to prepare them for the visit pre/post surveys, pre/post visit lesson plans)
- Develop delivery schedule and communicate in advance to driver, county Farm Bureaus and school/organizations
- Promote opportunities for future engagement between county FB and schools/community partners
Mobile Classroom Instruction
- Follow a rotational schedule for in person teaching with frequent overnight travel across the state (for instruction only)
- Travel to/from schools/organizations across Georgia, some hotel stays will be needed
- Set up/take down of mobile classroom each day; Troubleshoot technology issues
- Welcome students in each block, conduct whole group lesson and station instruction inside the mobile classroom. Repeat 5-6 times per day.
- Instruct students for full school day schedule (teaching beginning 8:30 AM or later)
- Collect forms from participating schools/organizations
- Work closely with county volunteers to ensure smooth program
- Maintain inventory of supplies and communicate with driver as necessary
Curriculum Development
- Work closely with GFB Ag in the Classroom program to enhance the mobile classroom curriculum
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program and make improvements as necessary
- Develop new educational resources that align with GFA goals and sponsor support
Local Partnerships
- Coordinate visits from local partners to enhance collaboration and improve the experience for students locally
- Work with GFB PR to coordinate visits from local media
- Act as the mobile classroom spokesperson
Fundraising Responsibility
- Generate 5 new leads per month for local support to assist executive director in outreach
- Identify local fundraising opportunities
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with schools/organizations.
- Dress appropriately for mobile classroom presentations (nice jeans/khakis, polos,
GFA/GFB attire.)
- Perform general maintenance of mobile classroom (including cleaning counters, floors & organizing materials)
- Submit mileage and expense reimbursement information on a monthly basis
- If asked to speak with local media, consult with Executive Director prior for guidelines
- Comply with State/Federal Health regulations and safety standards for COVID-19
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Valid GA Driver’s License
- Current GA Clearances
- 3 years classroom or other student instruction experience
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel
Preferred:
- Current or past GA Teacher’s Certificate
- BS in Education or qualifications in Ag-related field (preferred)
- Agricultural Background

- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds

COMPENSATION:
- Starting Annual Salary $42,948
