Responsibilities: 

The Advancement Specialist, Major Gifts, provides fundraising and administrative support to the Major Gifts and Individual Support (MG&IS) unit, with a focus on activities including donor research, proposal and budget development, CRM data entry and reporting, and donor stewardship and communication for individual donors and prospects.

The Advancement Specialist reports to the Director of Major Gifts and Individual Support and works synergistically and strategically with Foundation and CDC colleagues, donors and prospects, assisting in the daily operations of the MG&IS unit.

**This position is grant-funded for 24 months** 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Provide fundraising and administrative support to the Director of Major Gifts and Individual Support and the MG&IS team. 

•    Assist with major gift donor and prospect research and input information into Salesforce.

•    Assist with researching and writing donor proposals, budgets and agreements for the MG&IS team.

•    Create information sheets and stewardship reports for named and endowed funds.

•    Coordinate  and implement special donor print and mailing projects.

•    Make thank-you calls to donors for gifts on a daily basis.

•    Take, edit and proofread meeting minutes and correspondence for accuracy and completeness. 

•    Maintain individual donor files in CRM, including assisting in documenting touches, moves, interactions, asks, etc., and producing and maintaining reports as requested, including metrics reports, donor lists and portfolio and task reports. 

•    Create major gift donor stewardship templates.

•    Expand library of donor stories by interviewing donors and collecting written accounts of their motivations, experiences, and priorities for giving.

•    Assist with meeting/event planning, preparation and logistics, including special meetings and functions with donors; prepare agendas, presentation materials and executive briefing books; arrange audio visual support and other associated tasks. 

•    Assist with arranging travel and expense reports as needed for members of the MG&IS team.

•    Document tasks and processes for Major Gifts and Individual Support “playbook.”

•    Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Foundation’s and CDC’s programs and activities.

•    Participate in staff activities, projects and assignments and assume other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Necessary:

•    Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and be a professional with one (1) to three (3) years non-profit experience, preferably in an advancement, fundraising, donor relations or related role. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of work experience. 

•    Experience in public health/healthcare preferred, but not required. 

•    Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills. 

•    Excellent technical skills with high level proficiency in CRM/database management, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), and other computer skills required; Salesforce CRM experience preferred. 

•    Professional presence with the ability to establish confidence and trust among donors, CDC and CDC Foundation colleagues.

•    Results-oriented, team player, collaborative and self-motivated. Able to work with multiple departments to propel the mission forward through innovation and initiative. 

•    Flexibility with a proven ability to handle changing business needs, multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail. Accountability for meeting goals, objectives and deadlines with a proactive attitude and approach to work. 

•    Discretion in handling confidential information relating to the giving history and backgrounds of donors/prospects.
