Responsibilities:  

The Advancement Associate reports to the Senior Advancement Officer for Emergency Response and provides fundraising and administrative support to related to donor research, proposal and budget development, CDC and CDC Foundation approvals, donor agreement negotiation, CRM data entry and donor stewardship. This position may manage a portfolio of his/her own projects funded by corporate, foundation and organizational donors.  Additionally, working with the Senior Advancement Officer for Emergency Response, this position will assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of the CDC Foundation’s portfolio of in-kind contributions. 

The Advancement Associate works as a partner with fellow Advancement officers and functions synergistically with members of the Advancement staff in support of the mission of the CDC Foundation. He/she must work seamlessly with CDC staff, CDC Foundation staff and external partners. This position is budgeted for one year with the potential to extend pending availability of resources.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

1.    Experience in public health/health care environment and/or emergency response funding preferred. 

2.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

3.    One (1) - three (3) years of fundraising or equivalent business development experience.

4.    Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, providing support to senior staff as well as managing a portfolio of his/her own projects.

5.    Professional presence with the ability to establish confidence and trust among CDC colleagues and private sector partners.

6.    Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously and effectively.

7.    A demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a timely and effective manner and deliver results under tight deadlines.

8.    Excellent computer and data management skills/proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel required; Salesforce experience highly preferred. 

9.    Willingness to travel.

10.    Adherence to the Code of Ethical Principles of the National Society of Fundraising Executives (NSFRE) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

 

Duties:

1.    Create, edit, finalize and send fundraising correspondence, proposals and stewardship materials for donors and prospects.

2.    Assist in the creation and implementation of customized stewardship plans and participate in stewardship activities as necessary.

3.    Collaborate with CDC staff to help develop project proposals and route project concept/ideas through CDC and the CDC Foundation.

4.    Represent the Foundation with a wide range of external constituencies, including foundation, corporations, other potential donors and CDC colleagues.

5.    Provide fundraising and administrative support to senior Advancement staff.

6.    In coordination with Advancement senior staff, assist with departmental reporting, prospect review reports, and income projection.

7.    Develop, maintain and master a working knowledge of CDC Foundation and CDC programs and activities.

8.    Participate in a variety of staff activities, projects and assignments.

9.    Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
