POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Creatives Project (TCP) is looking for an experienced art and community-driven leader to serve as our Executive Director. Ideally, the candidate will be able to begin in August 2021. This incredible opportunity is a yearly contracted position with a flexible schedule and the option to work remotely.

The Creatives Project (TCP) is a vital force in Atlanta’s arts community. It is our mission to enrich and strengthen local communities through quality arts-based education and outreach while celebrating and elevating the city's creative talents through local artist residency programs. Founded in 2011, TCP emerged from a fundamental need to connect unused resources with Atlanta's diverse, yet separated, communities through arts and culture initiatives. TCP has changed the face of the city by helping uplift the voices of those not often heard, while inspiring emerging artists and communities to leave a lasting impact on Atlanta. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for The Creatives Project (TCP)'s staff, artists, programs, and execution of its mission - to which the Executive Director must be thoroughly committed. The ideal candidate will be someone who is community-driven, goal-oriented, and people-centric with a passion for the arts. The Executive Director will be an intellectually curious, innovative, and harmonious leader with a proven track record of success, albeit as a volunteer or vice president. They must have a strong understanding of arts activism as it relates to economic and racial justice issues, particularly gentrification, education inequity, institutional racism, white privilege, elitism, and classism, in addition to knowledge of other issues and implicit biases rampant and relevant to the communities of TCP. An active member of the community, the Executive Director will be a versatile and resourceful leader who values frequent interaction and collaboration with others and will appreciate others’ skills, experience, and input in evaluating challenges, developing solutions, and achieving successful outcomes. The Executive Director will bring a balance of professional expertise, credibility, interpersonal skills, and commitment to internal and external stakeholder satisfaction, along with a strong capacity for self-management and the highest levels of personal accountability and integrity. A confident fundraiser with a record of success in grant writing, major gift solicitation, and events, this individual will be versatile and tenacious. They will serve as the organization’s representative to the general public and community at large and will function as the liaison between grantors, governmental representatives, and community partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
• Program Development: artists residency; call for applications; exhibitions; outreach programming; community partnerships;
• Management: Program development and operations; Teams: Supervise, direct, develop, motivate, and evaluate TCP fellows, volunteers, staff, board members, consultants, and any assigns;
• Evaluation: Regularly evaluate program components - both qualitatively and quantitatively - so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents;
• Reporting: Report to the board regular and active engagement with TCP volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, community collaborators, benefactors, and sponsors;
• Strategic Planning: Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction;
• Business Development: Expand local revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support existing operations and seed future growth and development, including growth of individual and corporate
donations, in addition to enterprise operations; Grants Management, including preparation of grant applications, budgets, and reports;
• Marketing/PR/Communications: Deepen all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of sustaining and expanding the TCP brand; Serves as the key spokesperson for TCP and is its public face to the community, including attending applicable forums, and participating in Leadership groups.
• Other Related Projects & Tasks: The Executive Director may need to perform other related projects and unanticipated or ad hoc tasks related to the TCP, which fall under the responsibility of the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants must have the ability to travel to various sites throughout the city of Atlanta and work a flexible schedule, occasionally including evenings and weekends. Specific requirements include:
• A bachelor’s degree [or equivalent experience] and at least 5 to 7 years of supervisory experience with a proven track record as a collaborative leader of both staff and volunteers is necessary; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth is preferred
• Unwavering commitment to quality programs and community-driven program evaluation
• Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a modest budget
• Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate and sustain existing board member relationships while developing new ones
• Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to authentically engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills supported by avid, active listening
• A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project management and development skills
• An entrepreneurial spirit, with an adaptable approach and ability to stay focused, yet flexible
• Passion, compassion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, sense of humanity, and self-directed
• A valid driver’s license


Additional Attributes Desired:
• An advanced degree
• Prior experience working in the arts and/or with [emerging] artists
• Exceptional public speaking skills, both virtually and in-person
• A working knowledge of real estate development
• Program development and management expertise [internal and external]
• Experience producing and managing special events, including but not limited to art exhibitions, fundraisers, and dinners
• Apt software knowledge of suites including MS Office, Google, and Adobe [Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign]
• Well-versed in graphic design, social media, marketing and promotions, and public relations

COMPENSATION
This is a full-time, contracted position starting at $50,000 commensurate with education and experience. Evening and weekend work will be required. The standard schedule and worksite are flexible. Two weeks’ paid time off included + paid holidays. Health insurance stipend provided. Merit based bonus available as funding allows.
